IZII Chess Club Goes To State Mind Against Mind Mrs. Rene Kirkpatrick was first year sponsor for the Chess Club. They Went to Phoenix for state tour- naments on Feb. 23rd and March 22nd through 23rd. The club held meetings during 2nd lunch on Tues- days and Thursdays and the eleven members also met on Tuesdays after school. Fundraising included the sale of bagels. The officers were Presi- dent-EdwinWong,Vice-President - Gene Johnson, Secretary Robert Peterson and Treasurer A Damian Martinez. 'KOur main con- cern was to be supportive and to help any way we could, stated Ms. Yolonda Ja- cobs. Student Body President Veronica Fields wanted to share with students her experiences and help them to realize at- tempting suicide was not a solution to any problem.
