This year's advisors were Mr. Bill Crouse and Mrs. Kathy Lackow. The meetings were held once a week on Thursday's in Pod E at 2:30 p.m. The Club per- formed Christmas plays at San Xavier Mission with the choir and sang HJoy to the World and Peace, Peace. Margie Walker A club president stat- ed, l want to help more people be- come aware of sign language as a way of communication. Fund raisers for this year were Christmas Card selling. The Hiking Club, sponsored by Mr. Ron Lucas, is for all students. It has been active for two years. Hikes were planned for every other weekend and included travels to the Catalina Mountains, Santa Ritas, Rincons, Chirachahuas, and Mt. Wrightson. The hikes were usually overnight to allow for a higher quality experience and occassionally were on the way to some remote site along the state bor- ders. Club President Hugo Bond stated, There's a certain satisfaction you get from hiking that you can't get from any other hobby, knowing that your life depends on what you carry, the knowledge of how to use it, and that at any given time you could be in a bad situation. ltis a high that can't be topped but, itis not for everyone. There have been no fundraisers, mainly because they were a self con- tained club which provided its own transportation.
