4 ' n A I Look out! Here they come, the 1944-45 Sophomore class, one of the roughest, tough- est outfits this side of Paint Crik Gulch. This outtit numbered 269 at the beginning of the second roundup. On March 14, nom- inations for the sophomore class election were held. When the gunsrnoke was cleared, Rawhide lohn Dunkle was presi- dent, Two-gun Donald Breth was vice- president, Sadie Barbara Armstrong was secretary. Many sophomores went out for old Ranch C. H. S.'s football team. But of these only Wild Bob Kelly received the C letter award. Bob Cutright and Neil Duffy re- ceived the CAA letter award. Bob Friend was a sophomore manager and Barbara Armstrong was a cheerleader. Six sopho- mores niade the Mound-Builder staff. They were leani Hommel, Carolyn Zurcher, Bill Leete, lane Earl, George Wolff, and David Webb. Quite a few sophomores entered the Gals Glee Club: Charlotte Archer, Ann Hamm, Mary Hatton, lanet Metzger, loan Rinehart, lane Speakman, Helen Ahlen, Miriam Barrows, Evelyn McCarty, Elaine lvlc- Kenzie, Carolyn Zurcher, Louise Hill, Barbara Perry, Martha Shank, and Norma lean Tim- mons. The Sophomore Ensemble was com- posed of the following girls: first sopranos, Ann Hamm, lane Speakman, and Miriam Barrows: second sopranos, Evelyn McCarty, Ianet Metzger, and Ioan Rinehart: altos, Elaine McKenzie, Martha Shank, and Norma lean Timmons, Mary Hatton was the accom- panist. The Sophomores in the Anderson Choir were the following: Irene Harris, Mary Kelly, Esther Brown, Gladys Dyer, Elsie Breckenridge, lulia Thomas, Betty Powell, Delores Philips, and Betty Bayless. Old Ranch C. H. S.'s Chorus seems to have held some attraction for the Sophomore S DUDES SOPHOMORE OFFICERS Donald Breth - Vice-President Iohn Dunkle - President Barbara Armstrong - Secretary cow-gals. There were more Sophomores in the Chorus than in any other serenading outfit at our ranch. The serenaders were: lane Acord, Dorothy Aid, Barbara Arm- strong, Mildred Barnhart, Dorothy Bell, Bar- bara Blanton, Ronnie Brandenburq, lulia Chandler, Ioan Cochran, Phyllis Conner, Nancy Cook, Barbara DeCamp, Ruth Dun- lap, Betty Fennell, Evelyn Graves, Betty Gunlock, Patricia Hinkle, Mary Hood, Helen lardine, Annabella Ienson, leanne Kear, Pa- tricia Lawrence, Dessie Leach, Ioan Miller, Doris Nelson, Betty Ogier, Collen Tossey, Eileen Terflinger, Bertha Pettit, Cherie Rem- ley, Beverly Richards, Lela Richter, Virginia Roberts, Betty Robinson, Norma lean Royer, Ada Shrader, Patricia Simon, and lane Speakman. lust a few buckeroos from the Sophomore class entered the Boys' Glee Club: Charles Lightfoot, Carl Eycke, Bob Friend, Tom Hand, Harry Ratcliff, Howard Schweitzer, Gary alsh, and Bob McGee. The Sopho- mores in the Choir were the following: lanet Metzger, Ann Hamm, Ioan Rinehart, Louise Hill, Bob Friend, Bob McGee and Howard Schweitzer. ln the C. H. S. band many Sophomores, helped make the music sweeter and louder. These Sophomores were: Helen Harper, Mike Wilson, Iohn Nichols, Ioyce Conrad, Ioyce Kerns, Dessie Leach, Dorcie Henderson, Donna Kysor, Bob Bay, Norma lean Tim- mons, Hugh Manker, Virginia Clark, Bill Leete, Mary Ellen Oliver, Ronnie Branden- burg, Merrel Iunk and Everett Iohnson. The following cow-hands are in Ranch C. H. S, orchestra: Dorcie Henderson, Bar- bara VonClausburg, Mary Hatton, Virginia Clark, Mary Ellen Oliver, Norma Iean Tim- mons, Hugh Manker, Ioyce Kerns, Ioyce Conrad, lohn Nichols, Io Ann Hildner, Mary McQuigg, and Merrell Iunk.
