G ass Heston, I am Father Tlme anold gray halred man For many years I have watch ed the progress of the Class of 1951 ln fact I remember twelve years ago IH 1938 three l1ttle g1rls and one boy klssed thexr mother goodbye and trudged off to thelr f1rst day 1n school These lxttle people Bertha Prlnce B11l1e Jean Caldwell Wllma Brewer and Bobby Veazey l1tt1e reallzed the long struggle ahead of them The second year they were Jolned by Ocle Grier and Frances Allen the thxrd grade Fred Sanders Tommy Glddens and Ethel Hlndman came 1n to Joln them Durlng the fourth flfth and s1xth there were qu1te a few add1t1ons to the class These were Sara Parker Joyce K1tchens Gus Perry Sara Holmes Lucy Mae Fowler Ray Hay Ruth Allen Marle Allen and Jean Rowe Although the class lost qulte a few dur1ng these years the war t1me ln dustr1es brought ln more to make up for them Those years were happy and carefree but they were now enter1ng 1nto another phase of school l1fe whlch was very d1fferent They were enter1ng 1nto hlgh school Durmg the1r f1rst years 1n Chlldersburg Hlgh School there were enrolled four new members These were Fred Yarbrough Patsy Yarbrough El11e Cleckler and Jxmmy Saxon In the exghth grade they were Jomed by Mary Jane Rognelson and B1lly Fan n1n The mnth and tenth was very eventful for the class In the n1nth year Bar Ch1ldersburg's f1rst football team In the tenth Mrs Henry Moody sponsored the f1rst marchmg band In the Semor Class there are four boys and two g1r1s who were 1n the band The year the class were Junxors they wereJo1ned by Ronald Hubbard Jane Llmbaugh Mary Frances Rogers James Jarrett John McGhee and Jackle Thomas Th1s year they gave the Sen1ors a Banquet as was the custom wh1ch was very successful And f1na1ly came the cllmax the1r Semor year They were very concezted over the fact It was a tough struggle for most of them but they forgot the struggles and d1sappo1ntment am1d the act1v1t1es and fun they had as sen1ors They had the1r share of the honors In the1r class they had e1ght football lettermen the HarvestK1ng and Queen Homecom1ng Queen f1ve cheerleaders and two magorettes Thls year the Semors started the publ1cat1on of the school paper The T1gers Roar Tlus was the f1rst school paper that C H S had had 1n a long t1me They were very busy as Sen1ors publlshmg the annual sponsormg the Sen1or Play Sen1or trxp and fmally they graduated, and left me an old and sad dened man Forl loved them all desp11:e the1r boxsterous ways and the1r noxsy arguments for the1r t1me was my t1me and I shall remember always the gray ha1rs I added to my beard w1th those fateful ch11dren the Class of '51 Class H1stor1an Jlmmy Saxon I . .
