DEDICA T10 MRS. ANNE KOHL MRS. BESSIE MILLER It takes a lot to keep a ship afloat. We take for granted that our buildings are in good condition. We forget that someone must care for them. We would like to use this dedication to thank these two ladies for the care they have shown for our school and us. Daily they show us that the most important part of doing any job is pride. They take pride in their contribution to Nimitz and we take pride in them. Dedications of any kind are special, but the first dedication of the Navigator is much more than special. lt is with this in mind, we dedi- cate the 1972 Navigator to Mrs. Anne Kohl and Mrs. Bessie Miller. Mrs. Anne Pennachio Kohl was born in New York City on August 17 under the Zodiac sign of Leo the Lion. To this she attributes her strength, her strong will and her ability to roar at the students who enter the building after school without per- mission. She attended Public School 16 in Corona, Long Island. From there, she went to Queens Voca- tional School to learn how to become a dress- maker, but she never did learn to sew. She was a good cook, however, and married William Kohl in 1935. They came to California on july 4, 1955, settling in Lynwood. She has two daughters, Caroline and Frances, and two sons, Frank and William Ir. She has one grandson, jeff, age 3. She came to Nimitz in 1967. Her hobbies are gardening, cooking, and cleaning. She likes Nimitz because the students are friendly and the faculty is easy to work with. Mrs. Bessie Miller was born in Magnolia, Ark- ansas into a family of seven girls and seven boys. Her father had a farm on which he raised corn and cotton. The first thing she can remember in her life was when the house caught on fire and she climbed on the roof to help put it out. She came to Los Angeles in 1943 by herself as a young lady in search of employment. She started working for the Board of Education in 1947 and came to Nimitz in 1966. She likes best about Nimitz the friendliness, the students and the fact that everyone seems to be nice to work with. She has one son, john, age 10, who attends Mark Twain elementary in Compton. She likes to go on picnics when there are a lot of happy children and there is a lot of good food to eat like fried chicken, potato salad, and pop.
