1. , 'ii 'L -f ? CLASS HISTORY fcontinuedj The class is unanimous in considering May 16 as our most smashing success, but Hawaiian Night was at times quite a headache. We were determined to make OUR -45 Qklf! prom a big hit and ALSO make a profit - fsomething unheard of in C, H, S,J - we did it, tool With the invaluable aid of a certain faculty member, we rendered our old gym nunrecognizable, That term also fits a few girls who wore grass? skirts and leis, The big night arrived and everything was perfect, down to a beautiful shiny floor - right, boys? Having bade the senior class good-by we eagerly took their place. This is the year to which every class looks forward, the priority and prestige of seniors. g F The new freshmen we welcomed with the Freshman Reception and a few tricks to ' S 1, initiate them into C, H, S, All year there has been the class trip to work and earn money for: The Snowball, 5 ' 1 'LZ fr ' ,fi-:Q S a turkey dinner, and numerous other activities, Above all, t11is year has been the glory of our senior boys on the basketball team. These have been only a few highlights of a class which has made and still intends to make - History! 25

'59 There was a class, Its memories will never pass. A few of these we leave for you To teach you what a class should do. In the fall of '55 C. H, S, was bombarded with another class - a class destined to ' F 3 alter age-old traditions in the school and to be unusual in every line of activity: in short - to be just plain non-conformistsl l Xp NE., .5 XX ' X Here's proof: Q 0 4,3 First of all we were the last class to spend our Junior high years at C, H, S, Our first x 9? . Q Fx X X X My year we became the guinea pigs for a new course - CORE - remember it, kids H Eng- lish and Civics were taught and learned like English and Civics were never taught and F leamed before. flncidentally - Core faded out the next year after a more modified sys- , , ' 1 tem had been triedg The next year we were really on the ball. It was time to order our class rings - but this was not the usual procedure of order and receive, What was that new idea? Look on our fingers. Some of us are wearing the traditional school ring and others the new class ring, Q' fbgxg And then a new idea in music, We sponsored a masquerade dance with taped mus- 3? U 01 ic from the Lawrence Welk Show, This time we must admit, there was little response 'X X -lr but the music was good! 5 X -, e- 3 Y As a preview to their future success as a basketball team, our boys won the Sopho- ' A Ar P X? more Toumament. X At last we were upperclassmen and, boy, did it feel good! We began our junior year with a dance called Monkey Business in Hades, This mythological theme was in ,-3 remembrance of our sophomore English class. Pluto and Proserpina, King and Queen A, of Hades, were chosen to reign over their Kingdom - one-half of the gym representing X I T v Tartarus, and the other half the Elysian Fields. N .
