. - SUNSHINE SOCIETY The purpose of our Sunshine society is to: Q11 make our community a safer and more beautiful place in which to live, to inspire higher ideals for high school girls, Q31 to spread sunshine and good cheer, Q41 to train girls for active citizenship by giving to churches and homes which are in need. The years program included a candle-light formal initiation for eleven new members with their Mothers, as guests. They sponsored a coronation ceremony for a Halloween Carnival Queen. In November they had a chili supper held for the members'sfathers. On Hallowe'en,Christmas, Valentine Day, and Easter cut-out motifs were made for hospital trays. Per capitia tax money was raised for the Riley Hospital by presenting three one act plays January Zlst. The main feature of February was a Valentine's tea for their mothers at which Mrs. Simpson gave a talk on Korea , The talk was based on facts sent by her daughter, Hollis, who is living there with her husband and children. Mr. Vernon delivered the address at the all school Easter service. InApril election and installation of '48-'49 officers was held during the banquet for our secret ideal ladies. Our guest speaker was our state dean, Mrs. H. L. Hollen- bach, who gave an inspirational Sunshine review, Who are We?
