Under the direction of Miss Janet Bruns, the Chester Area High School Band led a very active year. As a money making project the members of A Band took a trip to the farm of Bill Daniel to pick up corn. Everyone worked hard and picked close to 100 bushels. On October 11th, the band traveled to Vermillion to march in the Dakota Day parade competition. Our Christmas concert was performed on December 22nd. Proud Heritage March, Christmas Music for Winds, Dedicatory Overture, and Sleigh Ride were among our numbers; with the finale being the Hallelujai Chorus performed with the choir. On March 21st, the band parents hosted a soup supper. The band played for everyone's entertainment and the night was a great success. On April 10th, we traveled to Madi- son to compete in the Large Group Ensemble contest. We performed Sinfonians March a and the Proud Heritage March, and represented Chester well. Along with our contest pieces, we carried out a Bicentennial theme in performing our Spring Concert.
