Aside from the daily academic rituals of wis- dom's abode. Cougars partake in a myriad of ac- tivities ranging from creative writing to modern dance. The English language, full of picturesque phrases and expressions, has an interesting word for this, namely supererogation. Working above and beyond the call of duty is part of the nature of the students of Cherry Hill East. Staying awake until the moon begins to fade to complete that important rehearsal, chasing that scoop for Eatttide's cover page, and painting that last elec- tion poster for upcoming student council elec- tions form the well rounded (or perhaps sharp- toothed is more appropriate) student. But. achieving sharp-toothedness is not the sole pur- pose of a Cougar's supererogation — it would be easier to find a good dentist. It is more the fun and frolic of sharing time with friends and the discovery of the ecstasy of success that lures students to participate instead of rushing home to watch General Hospital or to devour the con- tents of the refrigerator. The benefits of active participation are mutual, with students giving a little extra time and effort for various clubs and organizations, and receiving the satisfaction and delight of accomplishment.
