In the mainstream of East-life”, we find the all powerful, totem pole topping seniors whose su- per-student feats support the school, adding to the foundation of wisdom on which the building rests. They entered as Freshmen, the Class of '82. an almost magical digit far in the horizon and virtually unattainable. But the years passed and the class strengthened, each of the 800 elements striving, reaching toward a number, a brass ring on a merry-go-round. Suddenly, the year arrives, bringing with it a new president, some old hopes and dreams, and 800 well-rounded adults with brass rings. Soon they will pass through those glass doors for the last time, leaving their legacy of inspiration, hope, and Defender and Centipede arcade games along with many, many quarters. Their four years of youth have expired like those of the caterpillar encysting itself in a cocoon to emerge later as a fully grown butterfly and testing its wings in the world of high life, amused at the success of its change and endeavors, while look- ing back through the yearbook and remarking on lives long passed.
