Lamenting because your life is one big mad rush, devoting time to organiza- tions, social activities, exams, research projects. Thinking that being a stu- dent is the worst part of a person's life demands, demands, demands. Trying to find solutions . . . learning to cope. Finally knowing that your life lies ahead, that life can't be crowded into a month, or a year, it must be compartmentalized, choos- ing priorities. Time is making decisions. Talking with counselors, advisors and friends. Deciding which courses to take, trying to fig- ure out which teachers give the easiest tests, wanting to quit, agonizing over pim- ples, existing on hamburg- ers, coke, and french fries. Dating, begging Dad for the car on Saturday night, hav- ing a candlelight dinner at a restaurant you know you can't afford, balancing the checkbook and understand- ing what Pop meant about money not growing on trees. 4 Y i , F? I0 Time is friendship sharing notes, secrets, fail- ures and triumphs. Time is the excitement of parties, promises and just plain fun. Friendship feeling, car- ing, being vulnerable, trust- ing each other. Time is being thoughtful writing a long letter, sharing a prob- lem with a friend, or being simply 'fone of the guys. Walking across campus .. . admiring the people, won- dering if you act like some of them and hope to the good Lord you don't. Time is learning to be less self-cen- tered, reaching out ... touching others. With the drawing of each new day and the passing of each pre- cious second, we see our lives changing from what they are into what they will become. It is the small, seemingly unimportant occurences which make up most of life as eating lunch with a friend, going to the football games, listening to the monotonous yells at a pep rally and wondering why this brings an inner peace which you can't explain. Everything a person under- takes, whether it be great or small, goes toward creating the events which compose his lasting memories. Each action we take should be toward making the most of everything we do. lt is signif- icant to lay a strong founda- tion for the memories we will build on in the future. For it is the present which becomes the past which develops into a memory. ll ,...-L Time is mld term hurry hurry hurry study study study no time to think bombardung the mind with so many facts It threatens to collapse Gettmg behind trying desperately to catch trymg to stay awake for class fldgetmg checkmg your watch periodically wondering If its worth the maddening pace decld mg at IS but promising never to do at agam atleast not before next year up, burning the midnight oil, I2 + ,X ,W ,, X V Q ' Y Wa W W W, .L jyv, N YM ' ' 3 'Y' :QM :gif .5 nw W , 2 F Xxgfx x WM + b Y Wx fffa if 12 Q-VJ at-,K ' WW W Y 22 Gif' 9ffha..l.,,,,,M4 ! Crashing helmets, missing goals, forgetting the cheer, being out of step won- dering if it's worth all the pain and disappointment. After a period of serious thought, you decide it is. Patience, time, skill, strength, ability must all be combined into one joint effort, whether it be an indi- vidual or a team activity. Much time and practice must be expended to bring the body to it's highest and best performing level. lt is hard to explain the mental attitude which permits an athlete to continue to per- form even when his muscles ache and he thinks he can not go on. This determina- tion to succeed is instilled in our athletes through compe- tition. .15 Tlme IS examlnmg your Iufe re evaluatlng goals set tang up new ones bemg realusttc about who you are what you re dolng here sortmg out values testlng your strengths and acknowl edgmg weaknesses looking In the mlrror and becomung Intimate with the person reflected there strlpplng off the mask and becomlng a real person Reaching out toward maturity Tlme IS developing splrltual and moral qualltles knowung that mner peace often comes through pathways of faith a mature faath can develop only through lndlvldualuty tolerance and a mature mmd Tlme IS bemg alone wlth your thoughts day dreamtng or mdulgmg In a but of wlshful thlnklng Knowing at IS healthy If not overdone Takmg a walk through the woods getting to know the sound of swlft water runmng over stones Watchmg whlte clouds float through a perfect blue sky seemg the sharp glm of sun Ilght reflectlng on clear water sensmg the harmony of nature and nts affmnty wuth :me and strong convictions, that t' . . .
