CLASS HISTORY W1th s1xty s1x members 1n our caravan we took up our tools and clambered aboard our covered wagon, thus we began our long tra1l to our dlplomas and gold tassels As leaders of our band we selected Pres1dent, Dav1d Haas, V1ce Pres1dent, Donna Kalmbach Secretary, W1lham Lyons, and Treasurer, Mary K Palmer Our class adv1sor was M1ss Schell We also elected Thelma Ferguson and Ted McClear as our Student Counc1l representatlves We rece1ved our uutla t1on to the long trail by the sophomore class We had a Freshman Party and sponsored a few pep meetmgs Then we took charge of the Infantlle Paralysls Drlve Over summer vacatlon a few of our members dropped out, and we started our sophomore year w1th flfty mne students As offxcers we elected Pres1dent, Davxd Kmckerbocker V1ce Pres1dent, Ted McClear Secretary, Marlene Heydlauff and Treasurer, Joyce Crawford Our Student Counc1l representatxves were Marjorxe Shelly and Robert Merkel As last year, we were once agam under the able super v1s1on of M1ss Schell We welcomed the freshmen 1nto oursselect circle of hlgher educatlon w1th the trad1t1ona1 1mt1at1on We sponsored pep meetlngs and dances A commxttee was appomted to select our class rmgs, wluch we rece1ved shortly after vacauon began As we started our Jumor year we st1ll had flfty mne members As we were begmmng to tlunk serlously about our greatest axm, graduatlon, we reallzed that 1n order to accomphsh th1s task lt would requ1re qu1te a few money maklng projects To help us along th1s path we chose as Pres1dent, Davld Kmckerbocker Marlene Heydlauff Student Counc1l representatlves were Davld Knlckerbocker V1ce Pres1dent, and Delorxs Exseman and Ted McClear M1ss Schell and Mxss Larson were very capable class advlsors Our class sponsored a pot luck sup per and several pep meetlngs and dances We began preparatlon for our play, KA Date Wlth Judy, g1ven March 19, 1948, and wh1ch was a great success The proflts from selhng cards, the play and the supper helped to make our Jumor Semor receptxon, held May 14, a success The Jumor class carr1ed the Student Counc1l electxon w1th Pres1dent and V1ce Pres1dent Our flfty two members began the1r fmal year 1n Chelsea High School w1th one great a1m, graduatxon, to guide us Mr Chandler acted as our class advxsor Dom1a Kalmbach as our Pres1dent Ted McClear as V1ce Pres1dent Robert Merkel as Secretary, and Mary Ann Gage as Treasurer Dav1d Kmckerbocker and Audrey Taylor were Pres1dent and V1ce Pres1dent, respectxvely, of the Stu dent Counc1l, w1th Joyce Hughes and Bob Barlow as representatlves Earmng money for our semor tr1p seemed to be a great problem, our magazme sale proved to be very successful, our class rece1ved a plaque from the Curtms Pubhshmg Company to show what we had accomphshed The losmg magaz1ne team provlded a pot luck supper for the w1nnmg team of the magazme sales The Semor Stand, the pencll sale and our semor play, Str1ct1y Formal, gxven December 10 1948, greatly contr1buted to our havxng a semor trxp We or dered our caps and gowns chose cards and announcements and selected our semor tr1p, wluch took us to Nxagara Falls and Toronto, June 1 4 On June 8 we were pleasantly rewarded for our four years work by receivmg our dlplomas Dons Rowena Bob 20 . They sponsored a pot luck supper before the Salme basketball game and gave pep meetxngs dunng the football and basketball seasons. As a money maklng propos1t1on they sold penclls and name plates. They also sponsored a Chrlstmas dance and ple soc1a1. The Iumor play entxtled, Murder 1n Rehearsal' was g1ven March 18 1n the lugh school aud1tor1um. The Iumor Sexuor Recept1on was held May 13.
