fafutafory Superintendent Johnsen Faculty, and Friends This night is one that we have looked forward to for many years It has been our goal throughout hlgh school HD NX There were times when we thought it would never be reached, but now that lt is here there IS one question which we are askmg ourselves 'Where have the four years of hlgh school gone? X In these four years our parents and teachers have I brought to our attention a few of our faults and short l comings We have trled to correct them so that we shall be able to assume our rightful place 1n the world Sxnce we have grown up in years of war we have a partial knowledge of the destructlveness and cruelty that war brmgs We will do all 1n our power to see that Amerlca and all that xt stands for are preserved I am very smcer in say1ng in the name of my hope that all of you may feel that zt has been good to be with us, even though as a class, we cannot ask you to come agam Paul I Nxehaus .qlafufafoty Dear Friends One and All They say there are some people who always like to have the last word but I cannot see why they should, for to me it is the hardest of all words to say That last word must be to many Lf not to all of us, Good bye So far we have come together hand in hand and have been lookmg forward to this as a happy one forgetting that it was going to mean a time of parting Suddenly we are forced to remember thxs, and in spite of our triumph it makes us sad So I m not going to lmger over part1ng words To the Board of Educatxon as well as to our parents and frlends, who have by your kind and per sistent labors provided this school for us, we want you to know that we not only realize the honor that IS ours in graduating for this school, but we also understand a httle of the responsibxllty that attends that honor As we step forth to represent this commun1ty m the outside world, any honor that we may recexve will reflect upon the opportunities which we were offered here To our Supermtendent, Principal, and teachers there is much we would so llke to say, but a curious lump comes in our throats and we are left w1th unspoken thoughts I am sure that our minds w1ll often travel back to you, and we will remember the many times you have helped us Dear teachers you must know how deeply we feel and how much we mean by the only words we can find to say, 'God bless you Classmates there is only one more word and the last must be to you In our work here together we have become very good friends, and it always hard to say good bye to ones we have learned to care for We have shared our pleasures, our triumphs, and our disappointments for so long that we shall miss the old companlonships more than we realize Now our boat glides our between The rocks that guard the shore Bearing the class of 1948 To be a class no more But looklng forward with a smile Of courage strong and lngh To meet in that glad afterwhxle No more to say 'Good bye Shirley Kolb 13 Ru . . . dy, . . , .
