Mr. Arylis Parramore Holding the position of principal of Chatta- hoochee High School for 2 years, Mr. Parramore is a shining example of school spirit. The office of principal re- quires devotion to one’s work and love of students. Congratulations, Mr. Parramore, for a job well done! Mom and Dad It seems as though it were only a few short years ago when I used to look forward to a bedtime story and a chance to lick the cake bowl. But the years flew by and new things filled my desires.. .clothes, the use of the family car, dates, and MONEY. Yes, and you, Mom and Dad, were the ones who always shared these little things with me. You-laughed when I laughed; cried when I cried. You knew and understood that all these things were just a part of my growing up. And so, Mom and Dad, I offer this dedication to you to express my appreciation for all the loving memories of your trust, confidence, wisdom, understanding, friendship, and love you have given me through the years. 10 Dedication Mr. Arylis Parramore A man who has the courage of his convictions deserves the admiration of all. His fair judgment and level headedness inspire respect in all who meet him. His contribution to the adminis- tration of C.H.S. is immeasurable. Combining sterness with understand- ing, he helps to maintain effective discipline. The spirit of C.H.S. is personi- fied by this man, and the Annual Staff salutes him by dedicating the 1970 Yellow Jacket to him. Ann Trefethen Gen. C. Rep. Class of ’70 Motto - We’re not afraid of tomorrow, for we have seen yesterday, and we love today. Flower - Yellow Rose Colors - light blue, navy blue Song - You’ll Never Walk Alone 16 Jerry Adams He who believes in nothing still needs a girl to believe in him. Vickie Barnes Follow impulses, and you may well be sorry. But ignore it, and individuality is possible. Mickie Whitfield I am not absentminded. It is the presence of mind that makes me unaware of everything else. Terry Hampton No greater title of nobility can be bestowed upon a man than to say that he is sincere in what he thinks, what he says and what he does. a 4 S -- 17 Shirley McWhite We tire of those pleasures we take, but never of those we give. Nancy Colson I'm a slow walker, but I never walk back. Barbara Chumley The most important person to listen to is oneself, and our most impor- tant task is to develop an ear that can really hear what we are saying. Earl Baker One thing man can't understand about a woman, is how much a woman understands about a man, 18 Jan Dolan Your dreams come true when you act to turn them into realities. Willie Smitherman I am a great friend to public amuse- ments, for they keep people from vice. Phyllis Inabinet This is the greatest paradox: the emotions cannot be trusted, yet it is they that tell us the greatest truths. Mike Cowen If everyone in the world was a lit- tle bit fatter we'd all be closer to- gether. 19 Ronnie Edwards Only he who attempts the ridiculous can achieve the impossible. Janet Holt Unhappiness is in not knowing what we want and killing ourselves to get it. Jerry Thompson There are many wonderful things in nature, but the most wonderful of all is man. Karen Hargrove Make no little plans. The temple you build will go no higher than the plans you make for it. 20 Sammy Morris Men who deserve monuments do not need them. Mary Smith I believe in the discipline of si- lence, and could talk for hours about it. Raymond Thames Never give a man up until he has failed at something he likes. Lenora Thomas What manly eloquence could pro- duce such an effect as a woman's silence. 21 Frank Pringle Some people would not hesitate to drive up to the gate of heaven and honk. Nancy Hopkins Success is not a destination. It's a journey. Charlie Pittman Maybe what this country needs is a little less touch football and a little more tackling. Vickie Bradley There is no other way by which the individual can attain to his own happiness than that which leads to the common happiness of all. 22 Steve Hardisky It is no small art to sleep; to a- I chieve it one must keep awake all day. Steve Rowan With every right there is a respon- sibility. Just once, I wish some- one would demand his responsibi- lity. Debbie Weeks The first of all democratic doc- trines is that all men are interest- ing. Pam Drummond Those who love deeply never grow old; they may die of old age, but they die young. 23 Bob Sofge If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is be- cause he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. Maria Puig If I have freedom in my love, and in my soul am free, Angels alone, that soar above, enjoy such liberty. Pat Pelham I read, I study, I examine, I re- flect, and out of all this I try to form an idea into which I put as much common sense as I can. Juanita Bryant Patience is willingness to become what we can, not readiness to ac- cept what we are. 24 Gene Stephens Men tire themselves in pursuit of rest. Sandra Warren It has been wisely said that we can never love anybody at whom we never laugh. Linda Woods Feminine logic is fallacious, shal- low, inconsistent, irrelevant, ca- pricious, transparent, and irrefuta- ble. Danny Jackson I use not only ill the brains I have, but all I can borrow. 25 Kenneth Turnage The world stands aside to let any- one pass who knows where he is going. Alathia Blauvelt I'd rather lose in a cause that will one day win than win in a cause that will someday lose. Connie Pfaender Your own dreams, hopes, aims, purposes mark time until you start them marching. ■ Joe Jones Most teen-agers are keenly aware of the value of the dollar. It buys about three gallons of gasoline. 26 Richard Johns The only thing that keeps a man going is energy. And what is energy but liking life? Nancy Rentz It is not in life's chances but in life's choices that happiness lies. Carol Lehman Education is largely a matter of choosing one’s company, and lis tening. Gloria Speights We ought to spend more time wondering if than doubting whether. Wondering is the key to progress. 27 Mike Corbett If I rest, I rust. June McPhaul If only one could have two lives: the first in which to make one's mistakes; and the second in which to profit by them. Judy Brown The heart that is soonest awake to the flowers is always the first to be touched by the thorn. Helen Jackson Women have more imagination than men. We need it to tell men how wonderful they are. 28 Paul Williams Man is the only animal that laughs and weeps; for he is the only ani- mal that is struck by the difference between what things are and what they ought to be. Priscilla Peacock It took years to understand that words are often as important as experience, because, words make experience last. Butch Gibson The boy whose dad used to drop him off at school and then drive to work now has a son who drops him off at work and then drives on to school. 29 Most Athletic Nancy, Charlie Most Talented Vickie, Butch Most Intelligent Mike, Pat Best All Around Maria, Mike 30 Best Dressed Jan, Jerry, Janet Most Likely To Succeed Kenneth, Alathia Best Looking Willie, June Friendliest Debbie, Joe 31 Paul Williams Jan Dolan Senior Top Scholastic 1969 Bob Sofge Kenneth Turnage-Valedictorian Karen Hargrove 32 Mike Cowen Class Ten Averages 1970 Alathia Blauvelt Nancy Hopkins 33 34 Junior Cl ass Off icers Kay Scott President David Morrell Vice- Pres. The 1969-1970 Senior Class leaves behind memories of times past. We remember the things accomplished; we think of all our could haves, yet we trust the future - for we believe. The past has given each of us many cherishable memories, and for some, lasting friendships, But withour strong desire for life itself, we look forward to the unknown. In our search, we will choose many paths which will lead to new places, experiences, and people. The path will look strange; we leave familiar things behind. We will remember the friends we knew, the tasks we'd done, and those left to do. We think of all the happy days, and the sad seem unim- portant. Now the future leads us with the echo of the past still ringing. And there's a fear in our hearts, but a smile on our faces. We won't look back. 136 ADVERTISEMENTS . ..
