Text from Pages 1 - 168 of the 1967 volume:

I We have chosen as the theme of out 1967 Yellow Jacket the key. A key is a simple, ordinary object, practical and useful. There are many keys that open doors upon many roads. Our key closes the door on ignorance and opens the door upon enlightenment. It has unlocked the mysteries of the past, giving us a glimpse of the rich heritage sown by our forefathers. The sacrifices they made were many and immeasurable. Our indebtedness to them is great - they took  a vast wilderness and with time, patience and foresight molded one of the most powerful nations on earth. Our key has turned in the lock of the present and may one day give a passport to the stars. As wc move forward into the future, we leave behind a trail of memories forever to be cherished. All, we hope, will find the key to opportunities which will lead to worthwhile pursuits and serviceable lives. It is up to us to use it wisely. 2 ( oac j C orSin Sco The warmth of your smile and the sincerity of your welcome coupled with the reassuring hand you have given us, has meant much to those who have known Chattahoochee and you. We will think of both of you through the years as two constant in your devotion, wise in your understanding and unselfish in your service. You have helped us with our problems as a class and also as individuals. Our prob- lems, joys, and sorrows are never too trivial or too great. Words can’t express our gratitude for your help, so we therefore, proudly dedicate this annual to both of you. To the Staff, Students, and Friends of Chattahoochee High School Let me take this opportunity to extend my thanks and congratulations to members of the Annual staff, Mr. Jones and Mrs. Janice Rodgers, Annual staff sponsors, and to other faculty members and pupils who have had a part in making this Annual of 1967 a success. Some of your experiences in 1966-67 are recorded on the pages of this yearbook. May these memories be cherished by you and your friends in the years to come. James H. Diamond 1 sincerely wish each of you a profitable and enjoyable life. Left to right: E. H. Fletcher, C. W. Harbin, Julian Davis, M. D. Walker, Supt, N. MacMillan, Butler. THE ROAD GOODBYE The road I took was named Goodbye The path looked strange. I wondered why It left familiar things behind. A hand caught mine... I paid no mind. The stranger never once did say Just what had brought him on my way. On we went, and some afraid I wished I hadn't come, but stayed. All the friends that I once knew Took a road named Goodbye too. There were no two roads just the same Though all were called Goodbye by name. The road went on; we went on too. And I was sad, for then 1 knew That never could I be the same Having walked down Goodbye Land. And though I couldn't understand We walked together hand in hand. We said n6 words, but just walked on, 1 thought of things now past and gone. 1 thought of games I'd lost and won, I thought of all the things I’d done, 1 thought of those 1 loved and cared, Of times we'd had, of things we'd shared. 1 thought of those I'd come to know. Just knowing them —they'd helped me so. 1 thought of things, of tears I'd shed ... Those same things now brought smiles instead. The tasks I’d done, those left to do, I wondered how I'd make it through When something inside seems to say, The best you can from day to day.” The way was rough; 1 knew the score. It never ends ... there's always more. But now I know that all in all Each thing in its won place will fall. 1 thought of all the happy days. The sad ones now just seemed a haze, And in a flash I came to see How much the past had meant to me. We walked along—I wondered where The future led and what was there. The past still echoed from behind I was its, and it was mine. But in my heart was still a fear. And in my eye a shining tear; Yet on my face there was a smile, And we walked forward all the while. I walked along the road Goodbye. I looked back once ... I heaved a sigh. Then I remembered at my side — My silent, but my constant guide. The stranger's hand 1 felt in mine. 1 looked into his face this time. I asked his name —he turned just so, He smiled and said, I'm called Hello.
