6 I In work you never shirked In character you were one of the best You didn't stay long in this world But to a better you have gone to rest. And as you pass by I-Ieaven's gate And cast a glance our way You'll see how much we miss you In our school life each day, In memory of Sylvester Hogue, we dedicate this portion of the '55 annual. His friendly disposition and quiet, courteous ways made him a favorite with his many associates. We, who knew him inti- mately, know that he had one of the richest spirits on the campus. His high moral standards and de- votion to duty caused him to be trusted by students and teachers alike. The general concern that was shown for his death speaks for itself. The student body, junior class, various clubs, and individuals gave floral offerings and other expressions of sympathy to the family. The Charlotte School dismissed the day of the funeral so that the students and faculty might pay their last respects to one whose spirits will remain with us. Sylvester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion I-logue, was an active member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He was, also, an outstanding member of the Junior Class, the Beta Club, and Vice President of the Charlotte Chapter of Future Farmers of America. Sylvester was the victim of an automobile' accident Saturday, October 31, at 10:30 P.M.
