The Small School's Problem Ot Student Expression The Music And Dramatic Programs STRINGS I Cuthbert K Worthley P Reese I Ward IN Hogancamp E Warren M Hazen I Schroeder I Hosklnson N Smith WOODWINDS P Moquln L Baldwln I Bashaw D Woods P Stearns I Keeler BRASS L Szklenmk E Morse I MOQUIH A Glovanello G Cushman I Potter S Shand D Mayett PERCUSSION S Ball B Merrlll PIANIST S Pelton DIRECTOR Mr Roy Mlner ABSENT FROM PICTURE I Gray The mustcal organtzatlons of Charlestown Hlgh School have f1n1shed another suc cessful season under the able leadershlp of Iudlth Cuthbert presldent Iack Barber vlce prestdent Leland Szklenruk secretary Iudlth Bashaw treasurer and under the capable gutdance of Mr Roy Mlner Tms year the orchestra and band conslsted of 30 members and 35 members respectlvely The Glee Club was made up of 13 barltones and tenors 25 sopranos and 25 altos Mlss Mary Shaheen 15 provlng to be a very valuable muslc dlrector as more students from Charlestown than ever before partlclpated in the All State and New England choruses The school year of 1956 1957 was f1lled wlth muslcal entertalnment In October the All State Band members entertalned the teachers at the Teacher s Conventlon The Band and Orchestra presented a Fall Concert and then ln December they were Joined by the Glee Club 1n presenting the annual Clmstmas Concert This celebrated event was h1ghl1ghted by fine soloists who added to the pleasure of the capaclty crowd The annual New Hampsh1re All State Muslc Fest1val whtch was held durtng the month of April ln Durham was part1c mpated tn by 12 Charlestown students The preceding week several of our students dlsplayed thetr varlous talents in the New England Muslc Festlval whlch was held tn Plalnvllle Connectlcut . . . - . .
