CLASS HISTORY On September 8 1949 forty four eager students entered themr freshman xear at Holden School and qurckly filled all the seats ax allable ln Room 4 That was the class of 03 Mr Herbert was our class adv1sor We elected the follovsmg officers for the com1ng year Presrdent James Kmson Vlce President Lynwood Babbxtt Secretarv Barbara Bashaw and Treasurer Dorothy Bradlsh The few aCt1V1t1es we had durlng the year were sellmg refreshments at two basketball games and sponsoring one socral Later on during the year we lost two members of our class Rodney Lawrence and Barbara Gates The following year found forty five entermg our sophomore year in Room II wxth Mr Herbert still our adv1sor Because of thxs we were all happy We elected that year Presldent Caroline Adams Vlce President Harvey Hill Secretary Virginia Hrghter and Treasurer Larry Young That year we sponsored a very successful May Dance and one or two socials We lost from our class Madeline Poisson and Lynwood Babbitt but welcomed to our sophomore class Janet Colburn Andrew Kennet and Elizabeth Royce In April we very happily moved to our new school and were put m the largest room avarlable with Mr Herbert agam our adv1sor We fimshed a very successful year here We were all looklng for ward to the first full year spent 1n our new school When we returned to school as Juniors we were more dlgmfied fat least for the first dayj but as we got 1nto the swmg of thmgs we acted more like our old selves s1lly and full of the dickens Our new officers were President Harvey H111 Vice Presrd nt Marilyn Kmson Secretary Betty Smith and Treasurer Larry Young That year we found some new faces with us They were Albin Johnson and Eben Phelps We regretted losmg some old friends Mary Benware Grace Dav1s Lorra1ne Footland George Bashaw Raymond Kmson Wayne Dav1s and Andrew Kennett In 1952 thlrty seven semors entered their last year of school We rushed to the same homeroom and were happy to fmd our same adv1sor Mr Herbert T his year we had lost Elizabeth Royce and later Beverly Chase We seldom sat st1ll all through the year and have been on the go smce last Septem ber We held many dances and socrals We also sold many thmgs during the year such as Christmas cards pencils and pms We put on a play Stage Struck which was one of our greatest successes We worked hard for a long time on our Year Book and are very proud of the result In Aprll we spent all our hard earned money on the usual class tr1p Although it took much penny pmchmg thought and help from our advlsors we will never regret it We feel fortunate that we were able to stay in New York an extra day a total of tive days therefore being able to benefit much more from the trip as a whole It is mterestlng to note that fifteen of the thlrty six semors have been together each year from the first to the twelfth grade They are Carolme Adams Gordon Adams Dorothy Bradish Jane Burney Nancy Clark Nancy Davis V1rg1n1a Highter Marilyn Kmson Ronald Martel Larry Merrill Audrey Stevens Faye Sherwm Larry Young Normand Beaudry and Betty Sm1th It IS also lnterestlng to note that 1n the four years of h1gh school we have been fortunate enough to have the same adv1sor Mr Herbert We the class of 53 wish to thank Mr Herbert for all his cooperation and advlce because without h1m many of the thmgs we d1d would not have been possrble We also wish to welcome the new semors and wlsh them all good luck We hope they w1ll have as good a txme as we have had and can ga1n as much through their class mates teachers and advisors as we have been able to do 1n the past year Dorothy Bradzsh 17 v- ' v 1 1 . 1 . . . ,.- . , , 1.
