CLASS PROPHECY It IS a very warm day in June 1963 I am sitting reminiscing of the good times I had at Charlestown High School when my thoughts are interrupted by the Jangling of the doorbell I opened the door and was confronted by a woman dressed in a postman s uniform bpon closer scrutlny I recognized my old class mate Joan Sylvester She explained to me that she wrote so many letters to a Marine she ran out of money for postage stamps and the government let her have the Job to pay for the stamps She said that Albzn Johnson another classmate was foreman at Bryant s Machine Shop She handed me a package and gaily departed The package contained my new ll ho s Who and I immediately became engrossed in the contents The cover was very well done and upon looking in the corner I saw the signature of Eben Phelps On the title page in large letters were the names of Davzd llzllard and Dorothy Bradrsh editors Among the names on the first page I recognized that of Carolzne ldams She IS a nurse at Warm Springs and has been of great help in the battle against polio Barbara Bashaw has the distinction of being the only stewardess in Jet airline history Of course the pilot is none other than J tm Ixznson Normand Beaudry has gained recognition because in a debate with Mr Einstein he dlsproved Einstein s theory M arzlyn Brown and Gazlze Stoughton have become internationally famous in the music world Marilyn plays the piano while Gailie sings They are now touring Europe with a show which mcludes the famous chorus girls Janet Colburn and Florence Sawyer Other classmates have gamed recognition in the enter tainment world Maxme has her own television hour a variety show which features debates quizzes news and dramas Joyce Gzbson is the featured dancer at the Stork Club Merrzll and Tuttle comedy team has run its nearest competitor out of busmess and are in demand all over the world Nancy Clark is 11sted as Miss Letter Writer In 1953 she wrote over seven hundred letters to one sailor No one has approached her record yet Of course everyone knows Nancy Dav1s who became our first woman president A review of her Kznson created Nancy s style pacing hair do Dave s Raves Betty Smzth IS notorious for her now famous concoctlons Glutton s Collin and Fallen Tombstone She served these soda fountain spe CISIIUCS to President Dav1s and was elated when Nancy survived Eddle F zsk is hsted as owmng the largest store in Charlestown It covers six acres and Eddie has provided Cadillacs for the shopper s convenience Ernest F rohoclc is famous for his brain surgery He recently removed a brain the size of a pea from a concerted senior at Charlestown High Btll Gregory became Commander in Chief for the moon after leaving West Point Vzrgznla H zghter a graduate of Keene Teacher s College is employed in the Charlestown schools at S200 per week A portrait more beautiful than the Mona Lisa is pictured as being painted by artist Ronald Martel of his lovely model Allce Morse Beverly Royce s name was another I was familiar with She is operating a trailer camp and drive in movie Faye Sherwzn is working w1th Nancy Rawson at a neighborhood house in Boston They are engaged in a drive for funds Harvey H zll became the first baseman of the Red Sox followmg his graduation and in the off season is a buyer for Macy s Audrey Stevens IS his secretary The Class of 53 has another contribution to the sport s world Larry Young Larry became center for the Celtics when McCauley retrred During the off season Larry operates a chain of diners On the last page of the book was the advertisement which read Do you wake up in the morning half dead?
