S-3 DIVISION The S-3 (Sales Division) operates an onboard mini-Exchange. Whether you are looking for a car stereo, the latest edition of Sports Illustrated or just some geedunk for your sweet tooth, you can find it in the ship ' s store. The Ship ' s Servicemen (S-3) also manage soda, candy and change machines and run a twenty four hour a day, 365 days a year laundry service and are the men who help us maintain a squared-away appearance via the barber shop. ROMERO Disbursing Clerks (S-4). A small division, but everyone appreciates the Disburs- ing Office staff. After all, they ' re the guys that issue our paychecks every two weeks. In addition to handling the payroll, they also cash personal checks, provide currency exchange in foreign ports and help out on any financial problems you might have. 32

S-2 DIVISION No man works on an empty stomach and it ' s the job of the S-2 Division Food Service personnel to keep those stomachs filled. It ' s a job that ' s never completed; three meals a day. every day. But the meals always go out — over 350.000 meals served during the course of the deployment feeds the sailors and marines that line up like clockwork at every meal. The cooks aboard Charleston take pride in the knowledge that they play a very important cole in every successful evolution the ship completes.
