We have been molded into expressions of high ideals and strong convictions. We have much to remember here-friendships and their joys-studies and the marvels of learning-athletics and team spirit -honor and courage-teachers and their inspiration. These will guide us through the years. As you thumb through the pages of 1957 PANORAMA, may your memo- ries of days there be revived, your pride in Chapman High renewed, and your love for your Alma Mater rekindled! When Time, who steals our years away, Shall steal our pleasures, too, The mem'ry of the past will stay L And half our joys renew. , L THE EDITOR 1-or 1. 10 W7 LUCY GRAMLING W' Editor in Chief Q 4 .. ,wi .1 v I SHIRLEY MEDLEY Assistant Editdr 11? E Paul Hibbard The inter-com system during its short life at Chapman has prevented loss of time and effort in conveying messages from one part of our spatial building to another. It is much easier to twist a dial and make a brief announce- ment than to rush from place to place and repeat the message. Another excellent use to which the system has been put is the conducting of assembly pro- grams. Instead of the students' going to the gymtorium for chapel exercises the program is carried over the system to the students in their individual homerooms. Other schools, also, have found this use quite adequate. Still another use-and this one is far-reaching - is that of class instruction for one of our number who is at present unable to attend classes because of polio. Three classes daily are carried into the Hibbard home to Paul, a student in the sophomore class. By the flick of a dial Mrs. Maloney, Mrs. Burke, and Mr. Culbreth carry history, English, and biology respectively to Paul, who lies upon his bed. Paul is an apt student and is proving to be an inspiration to his classmates. Students and teachers alike are grateful for this service at Chapman High. 52 DRIVER EDUCATION Driver education, since its inception into the curriculum at Chapman three years ago, has proven quite popular. One hun- dred sixty students have been enrolled in the course, which consists of thirty hours of class instruction and six hours at the wheel. Only about five per cent of the students have failed to receive their drivers' licenses upon the first test. Mr. Smith is instructor of driver education.
