KATHY GREAVES Home Economics School Guidance Committee fl' 1 'PX ,J-' .ig k-, KEN GOSE Todays students, for the most part, are great! I enjoyed them when I began teaching, too. All genera- tions and cultures have had many many outstanding people with a small percentage that need consid- erable help. I expect to have many fine people in tomorrow's genera- tion. The students twenty years ago are older now. In some cases, they are today's students' parents, advisors, mentors, opponents, and teachers. Through that time, the conditions have changed, but in- side the students goals and desires have remained constant. The hopes for freedom and new opportunities as well as the fear of the unknown and the future are a common, bind- ing thread through time. The spe- cifics and the faces have changed, but the basic fabric of the individ- ual remains the same. ALAN HAYASHI Mathematics Academic Decthalon Team Coach

Geometry was my favorite, but I gave the teacher headaches. tra-,Wei :: .f .. X1 fe - rf- ,. 51 W . , J' fi 1 '- ' ' E.: t . .... X 4, 1973 V A h.. 1' -E WW ' ' Y ' 'X 2 Q GERRI HICKENBOTTOM Back in 1965 the Beatles had just come on the scene. I was madly in love with them. Today we have Bruce Springtein and Madonna who are luring the students. Students of today have short hair for no hair-colored hair-especially guysll Girls have shaved hair-orange, pink, blue hair, and idolize Madonna. Twenty years ago long hair just started to come on the scene and everyone wanted to look like the Beatles. Students of today are living with the inventions of the com- puter, robots, and microwaves. Twenty years ago there were only a few computer's around. Today's students seem to live more with the threat of nuclear war! lt is reality they seem to be under more stress because of personal problems. The world today, 1985, is also more polluted than 20 years ago. Twenty years ago we were just becoming aware of effects of chemicals. The music of the 80's also seems to be getting back to saying what is meaningful and making a statement to society about personal world problems. The music of the 60's was like this, very deep and political, All in all students of today seem to care and be aware as students of the 60's did. We cannot lose the idealism and energy of the 60's. We must keep the fire burning desiring to make our world a better place. This is up to our future leaders-the youth of the 80's.
