AUGUST 21- Freshmen Orien- tation conducted by Commissioner of Freshmen Orientation, Claire Kohatsu. An ex- cellent first impression for the Class of 1989, free ice cream was giv- en to welcome the baby raiders of C.I. SEPTEMBER 3 Back to school for fellow Raiders 6 Welcome to the Islands Back to School Dance. 13 C.I.'s first Rally introducing the foot- ball team. Band contributed music while C.I. Drillteam, and Flags performed 20-22 C.I. has the most participants in the Junior Miss Pageant, Miss Jeaneth Ville- gas won the title of Miss Camarillo, Gigi Gajardo captured the coveted Spirit of Ju- nior Miss Award while Debbie White charmed her way to win the Poise and Ap- pearance category. 21 C.I.'s spirit shows! School Pride Day was a success where many participated to paint our school ,blue and gold. OCTOBER 8- Homecoming Nominations were dis- tributed to the respected classes to nomi- nate their favorite girls for Football Home- coming. 11 C.I.'sr New Wave Rock Dance with Swedish Eagle. Kirsty Warner and Jesse Powell won tickets to concerts after win- ning the dance contest . . . 224 CALENDAR 15 Classes voted for the Homecoming Queen and Class Princesses. Betty Vega won Homecoming Queen, Tally Rubio, Debbie White, and Carrol Villanueva all became senior princesses. While Dawn Harris was Junior Class. Myeshia Mizuno sophomore class and Erica Osako Freshmen class princesses. 18 Clubs participated in C.I.'s annual Mardi Gras which was organized by Miss Jenniffer Gundayao, ICC Director. Her efforts made an- other C.I. event successful. 21 ASB retreat 26 Seniors Magic Mountain Trip. October 28-November 1 Homecoming week. In celebration of C.I.'s 20th Anniversary in the Raider Magical Kingdom, Commissioners Leo Creger, Jenny Domingo, John Santos, and Ricky Hill put on a spectacular homecoming for the Alumni Class of 1985. 31 Trick Or Treat . . . Spirit Club had them to eat . . . Witches and goblins came out Halloween. Nov. 1 Homecom- ing Rally . . . Betty and her beautiful court were present- ed to everyone. Featured in the ral- ly were Drillteam fand the old Novel- ty teaml, Band, Short Flags and of l t, COUISC Olll' eXC6ll6Ilt Varsity Football team. Michelle Washing- ton, last year's queen, handed down her crown to our new queen, Betty Vega. Also among the performances were C.I.'s 2nd String Cheerleaders with Ed Sajor as the head cheer and the sensational Fat Boys showed what they got. 2 C.I.ls annual p a r a d e h a d Mickey Mouse as the grand marshall. The parade going down the mid- dle of Oxnard from C.I. to Huenume's foot- ball field was a sight to see. Well made floats by the four competitive classes made it hard for the judges to decide the best one. Halftime featured fireworks, the Homecoming Court, floats and a Hot Air Balloon, masquerade dance topped off the evening. 16 Academic Decathlon's team, coaxed by Mr. Alan Hayashi competes at Rio Mesa HS, in ten groulling events. 19 Parents, teachers, and students attend C.I.'s Back to School Open House. DECEMBER 5-7 Nordoff Tournament Q 6 Y- : -sfiw 7 Band, Drillteam, and Flags, strut their stuff for the Oxnard Christmas Parade. 14 Here they go againlll! Band, Drillteam, and Flags perform for Camarillo's Christ- mas Parade. 20 X-mas festivities is in the air. Drillteam and flags perform their last routines for the '85 year at the X-mas Assembly. Everyone was in the Christmas mood.

I' I Ss. ff W 5 , ' H I f ' , gs' 'I i , il 'I e.. x ' , mi 1 .5 2. 3 ..- JAN UAR Y 11 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! 1986's first Back to School dance from the long relax- ing 2 week vacation. 22, 23 Finals, finals, finals FEBR UAR Y 4 ASB Retreat 8 Senior President, Vivian Basil and her cabinet put on a formal for the Class of '86 at the Senior Ball. 1 0-1 3 Basketball Homecoming, a treat for the la- dies of C.I. seeing their favorite dream as King and princes for C.I.'s 20th Anniversa- ry. MARCH 1 C.I.'s Drillteam and Short Flags competed for the title of number one in the nation at Drillteam USA com- petition held at Santa Monica City College. Susan Prevette led her squad to a fantastic performance while Cherry Estrella head- ed the excellent flag team once again to vic- tory. 17-21 Time again to borrow dad's leather jacket or mom's old poodle skirt for its time for 50's week. The week was filled fun and excitement as the student body participated in the dress-up days. 21 50's rally with the top favorites from the fifties. Later on that night, everyone danced to the pop tunes of the oldies but goodies. 22C.I.'s top award winning wrestling team competed in the Wrestling Tournament. APRIL 4 ASB elections for '86-87 school year. 18 Class elections for '86-87 school year. 19 Ladies-hut one, hut two, hut three, HIKE!! Fundraiser for the Tom Pariso Scholarship Fund. 21-25 Hawaiian Week-A L O H A !!! A tropical week for leis and flowers. 25 Let's go do the hula at the Hawaiian dance!!!! MAY 5-9 Seniors!!! Remember the AP's in May??? They're for college!!! 10PROM TIME The Junior class put on a sensational production for their favorite class, the SENIORS. This extravagant event was held at the Westlake Plaza Ho- tel. 12-16 TAP Test- ing for Juniors and more AP Exams!!! 18-20 Leadership camp for the new officers for '86-87 ASBers, situated at the beautiful Camp Ramah in the Ojai Valley. 23 Seniors Barbe- que. Grub time!!! 30 End of the year Assembly-Final perfor- mances of our pep squads. Yearbook sign- ups. The seniors captured the award of Class of the Year, two years in a row ASB Installation Dinner- Here the new of- ficers were installed into their offices for the next year. JUNE 6 One more time to boogie before school ended at the end of the year dance. 9-11 Seniors' final FINALS! 11 Senior ASB Dinner-Seniors in ASB grub and party one last time before their year closed to an end. 12Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior Fin- als. Senior Breakfast-time to grub once AGAIN!!! 13 No more books, hassles, and most all, H O M E W O R K !!! At two o'clock on C.I.'s football field, the Class of '86 begun their processional walk to get the long awaited document on stage. In a flash, it was all over. No longer seniors but individuals ready to start a new beginning. Later on that nite, they celebrated at Disneyland for GRADNITE . .. CALENDAR 225
