The Mathematics Department had a three-fold purpose. 1. To make mathematics exciting and motivating and to try to get students to enroll in all the math they can. 2. To make available the mathematics required to continue a study of mathematics, science and other fields requiring math in college. 3. Industrial Arts consists of: Metal and Wood Shop, Upholstery, electricity, and drafting. Industrial Arts provided students with the skills necessary for successful employment. Emerson Lewis - Metals instructor- sheet metal welding, casting, and machinery. Ron Wise - Drafting Instructor. Happiness at CIHS is just drafting away. Lon Avants - Crafts I and II. A Crafty Critter. Merl Tiede - electricity, electronics instructor Bob Donaldson - What a beautiful bird the frog are when he sits he stands almost, when he hops he flies almost, he ain't got no tail hardly so he sits on his wood stool made in the Wood Shop. Chuck Williams - Upholstering, Soft Work Woodworking- Watch those splinters.

Tom Vail taught Algebra Algebra, Geometry P., and Algebra 2. Leo Wingle taught Int. Alg., Trig and Algebra. He also was the Coach of the Varsity Football Team. Devon Hansen taught Math 10. Barbara Walker taught Math 10B and Math 12. She also was the cheerleader advisor. Mamerta Santiago taught Math 9B, Math 9 and Int. Alg. She also was the Asian American advisor. Ralph Gonzales taught Algebra, and helped coach Freshman Football. Russ Meyer was the Math Resource person.
