VARSITY SENIORS GET Top The Chandler Booster Club sponsored the second Sports Banquet of the year, this time honoring the top winter athletes The teams included in the pro- gram were boys' basketball, wrestling, girls' basketball, and girls' softball. Coach Gary Ernst honored the senior members of histeam . AWARDS Coach Carlson chose a lVlost Valuable Senior, a IVIost Valu able Junior, and gave out a leadership award. lVlr. BOSSE HEADS DEPARTMENT After the retirement of lVlr. Manuel Diaz last year, IVlr. Charles Bossee was chosen to be the new head of the CHS IVIath Department. lVlr. Bosse, who teaches Geometry and Inter- mediate IVIath, has taught at Chandler High for sixteen years . His new duties include sche- duling, aiding in the formation of policy, supervising of teachers, and serving as a go- between for the teachers in his department and the administration . lVIr. Bosse enjoys his position, saying that CHS students are the greatest . We have the most desirable student body possible I enjoy working with these people. He has been similarly impressed with the administra- tion, saying of them, They are a hardworking team who are interested in making CHS the best. IVlr. Bosse Pictured Below, is active in the Chandler Elk's Club and is presently on the Board of Trustees . 94 Teachers WELCH TOURS EUROPE WITH CHS STUDENTS IVIr. Ron Welch will be returning to Europe this summer, this time with twenty-two persons from the Chandler area. For a second year he will serve as advisor for Chandler in the Foreign Study League's Summer Travel Study Program. The schedule calls for five days in London, four days in Paris, six days in the Austrian Alps, two days in Venice, five days in Athens, and a final four days in Rome. The group will travel by jet, bus, ferry, night train, and night boat. A few of the places the groups will visit are Westminster Abbey, NotreLDame Cathedral, the Louvre lllluseum, the Parthenon, and Vatican City's Sistine Chapel. The Study Program will begin on June 22 when IVIr. Welch's people will board the jet I plane en route to London . They expect to return July 19 . The tour will be good for college credit because there will be six 90- minute class sessions taught by overseas instructors . This will be IVlr. Welch's fourth trip to Europe. This summer IVliss Phylis Green will accompany him as a second advisor.
