Bill Kenyon was named last year's Best lVIale Technician in the area of Theater Arts . He was chosen by a vote of his fellow Theater Arts stu- dents . Janet Niemeyer has been named Chandler High's 1976-1 977 General lVlills Family Leader of Tomorrow . Janet won the honor by com- peting with other seniors here in a written examination on December 7th . She will receive a certificate from the sponsor, General IVlills, and is eligible for state and na- tional honors . 56- Assorted JANET NIEMEYER, '77 FAMILY LEADERg MATTHEW COLE TAKES STATE Brian Ragsdale was named to be a recipient of the Hugh O'Brian award and is eligible for state and national honors . IVIatt Cole won a blue ribbon in the state photography con- test. His picture will be sent to New York for national judging . L, Patty Cowell was presented a First Place Premium for her lVlixed IVledia Weaving at the Arizona State Fair Stu- dent Art Competition . Frankie Brown has placed second at the Chaparral Invi- tational and fourth place at the lVlesa Invitational. They were both won in the 181 lb. division.

' 'iizf3 . if .,,.....,, .,A,, TOP FALL ATHLETES RECDGNIZED The parent members of the Chandler Boos- ter Club, an organization which establishes activities for the benefit of Chandler's stu- dent athletes, sponsored the Fall Sports Pro- gram for the second year in a row. Raul Nava- rette hosted the program and two football coaches from Scottsdale Community College were the guest speakers . Special football awards, presented by head coach Lonnie Foster, were given to Neal Tar- water-Defensive Point Leader, Defensive Back of the Year, and IVlost Valuable Player, Mike lVlaynard-lVlost Improved, Brian Shea-Leading Receiver, James Ricks-Offensive Back of the Year, lVIarty Van Gorder-Offensive Lineman of the Year, and Alan Powell-Defensive Line- man of the Year. Coach Harold Dusick also presented special awards to two members of his Cross Country Team, Mike Torres-most out- standing and Gregg Layman-most improved, Nlale athletes were not the only ones represented in the program. Several outstand- ing female athletes were also recognized. Gayle Bueler and Denise Davis, coached by Ruthanne Kehias, received awards as out- standing volleyball players, Tracy Carr was awarded by coach Jack Janousek for outstand- ing contribution to swimming, and Mary Gon- zales was presented an award for being the lVlost Outstanding Badminton Player. CHANDLER HIGH STUDENTS RECEIVE NUMEROUS HONORS FOR EXCELLENCE ACHIEVED Sisto Rosales toured Japan this summer. He recorded a 10-0 win record standing plus he won two gold medals for his impressive efforts . lVlike Thiem has been the re- ceiver of an Honorable lVlen- tion Award at the Arizona State Fair Student Art Fair. James Ricks placed second in a wrestling match at the Mesa Inivtational in the 140 lb . division . Tammy Knight received sev- eral awards for art work at the Arizona State Fair Stu- dent Art Show, including a Blue Ribbon and an Excep- tional Merit Award . The debate team of Kim lVlehren and Terry Savarino were the winners of a second place award at the ASU Forensic Tournament.
