CHS BLOOD DRIVE DRAWS BIG CROWD Arizona Blood Services brought its Bloodmobile to CHS on Feb. 24 in hopes of getting a good response from the stu- dents and faculty. Chandler greeted them wholeheartedly with a great turnout and much cooperation . A total of 72 pints of blood was donated, surpassing the intended goal of 55 pints . This was the most ever given by CHS . Not only students partici- pated in this event, which took place all day long in the gym foyer. Adults accounted for 22 of the donors, including 8 teachers . The rest of the vol- unteers came from the com- munity. 23 prospective donors were turned away for various reasons, the most common being colds, low iron, ear- piercing, and being under- weight. All donors had to go through the pre-screening process . This included blood pressure, pulse, temperature, a blood test for iron content, and an- swering questions on medical history. They also had to be at least 17 years old and weigh 110 pounds . After donating their one pint, the donors were offered orange juice and cookies and were told to sit down for about 15 minutes before leaving.
