work and time really goes into a production. JOHN BISSEN PLAYS THRILLER'S EX-CON Although John Bissen has been active in wrestling, chorus, and the V,I ,C,A, Club, up until this year he had never tried his hand at drama. So this fall he tried out for the part of a confidence man in the smash thriller, Wait Until Dark . He got the part and did a very good job with it, portraying the ex-con who is used by a ruth- less killer to retrieve a large sum of cocaine . DORAN'S PRES. For IVIr. Thomas Doran his role in the play IVlouse That Roared was a first. lVlr. Doran said that he hadn't been in any sort of drama since grade school, when he played a shepherd and had only two lines. l really have great respect for IVlr. Fain and the kids now that I know just how much lVlr. Doran appeared in three major scenes of the play. He eels that the time and effort put forth into the play was really worthwhile . One of the major parts in the play, The Mouse That Roared is that of Count IVlount- joy, the suave politician. Steve Williamson was chosen to take this role, although this is his first play, and has enjoyed the experience . Said Steve of his character, I portray an aris- tocratic leader-of-the-people, Count IVlount- ioy- ' Steve became interested in the theater when he took the Theatre Arts course . CHS BLOOD DRIVE DRAWS BIG CROWD Arizona Blood Services brought its Bloodmobile to CHS on Feb. 24 in hopes of getting a good response from the stu- dents and faculty. Chandler greeted them wholeheartedly with a great turnout and much cooperation . A total of 72 pints of blood was donated, surpassing the intended goal of 55 pints . This was the most ever given by CHS . Not only students partici- pated in this event, which took place all day long in the gym foyer. Adults accounted for 22 of the donors, including 8 teachers . The rest of the vol- unteers came from the com- munity. 23 prospective donors were turned away for various reasons, the most common being colds, low iron, ear- piercing, and being under- weight. All donors had to go through the pre-screening process . This included blood pressure, pulse, temperature, a blood test for iron content, and an- swering questions on medical history. They also had to be at least 17 years old and weigh 110 pounds . After donating their one pint, the donors were offered orange juice and cookies and were told to sit down for about 15 minutes before leaving.
