NG MIKE, CARRIENE, AND LYNN ARE CHOSEN AS SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS THIS FEBRUARY Above: Lynn Kindell. Below: Carriene Porter. Below Right: Mike Romero. Three Chandler High studentswere named the recipients of scholarships to summer music camp this February . The Chandler Women's Service Club chose to sponsor Lynn Kendall, Carriene Porter, and lVlike Romero this year. This is lVlike's second year to be chosen for this honor. The selec- tions were based on the performances of serious solo numbers . The summer music camp is over a week straight of courses on music theory, history, and performance . The students are encour- aged to participate in camp choirs and are treated to free concerts by distinguished musicians . In addition, three full hours of individual voice coaching is given to each student attending . The best musicians in the state's high schools will be sent to this camp, thus giv- ing the students a chance to sing in some of the finest choirs that could be gathered statewide . The experience is designed to give the high schoolers a short period of intensive, advanced training in choral music. All of the winners are CHS lVladrigaIs and coached by IVlr. John Hollingshead.
