The Counseling Department of Chandler High School is organized to assist individual students and small groups in their educational and career planning. The counselors are well trained and inter- ested in helping students with personal problems as well. Appointments are made each day by students needing help with choice of courses, information about voca- tional opportunities and schools, national tests, military information or just to be able to talk out a personal problem. Students are not assigned to particular counselors . They can see whomever they feel can help them the most with their particular problem. lVlr. Smith's beat for instance is the area dealing with mili- tary information, testing, or college appli- cations, while lVliss lVlalone and lVlrs . HOLDS PARTY The Special Educa- T, tion Department at JF... Chandler is headed by lVIrs. Arlene Dicknite. Under her direction, these students held their Fourth Annual Christmas Tea on December 10. They began preparations for this event early in November. They made special refreshments, and offered their own crafts and decorations for sale. The students also compiled their own special Christmas cookbook of holiday treats, which they dedicated to the teachers and other friends who helped make the tea such a suc- cess. The cookbook included recipes for all the goodies they served at the Christmas Tea and was sold to raise money for the depart- ment. Students made special invitations for the faculty and staff to visit the department and enjoy the refreshments. Counselors 115
