ezmaaz. alla-71. sczmz sos s. l.uon.ow ST. DAYTON 2. on-no May 31, 1951 Dear Graduates, In the designs of Divine Providence your graduation from high school is coincidental with our construction of the new Chaminade. You have united with your parents, with the friends of the school, with your fellow students in helping to build this monument to God and Our Bles- sed Mother. This effort on your part carries a profound significance. Men and nations made their impress on world history, not by war and conquest, but by their contribution to civilization. Foremost among these contributions were those structures of ancient, medieval, and modern times. From the pyramids and obelisks of the Egyptians, to Solomon's Temple, to the Age of Pericles and the Rome of Caesar augus- tus down through the centuries to the classical courts and towers of the feudal period, the castles and impressive cathedrals of the Middle Ages to our modern skyscrapers, we have the evolution of civilization. And the inspiration for the greatest and noblest achievements was a spiritual one, an attempt on the part of humanity to honor and worship the Divinity. There is a parallel in your own spiritual life. Your parents, the priests of your parish, your fellow students, your teachers...all have given you the materials with which to build your life, your eternal life. You are the architect. Yours is the responsibility of building on the firm foundation of faith...to avoid the insecurity of the sandy soil'of expediency. Build Well so that the rains and winds of tempta- tions will not prevail. May Jesus, Mary, and Joseph always protect you XJMLMWZ
