V 555-Q1'2l ,X Dear Students : Each school year teaches us some new lesson, but there is one lesson which it never fails to teach: good deeds are written in the Book of Life that lies on the desk of Christ. At judgment that Book will be turned to our page and our eyes will rest upon its notations. Our two World Wars were thrust upon us by men who, rejecting God and His precepts, substituted hate. Our soldiers fight because they love our country. As Catholic students you will play your part in this war best by keeping your hearts turned to Christ in love by frequent Communion. On your knees before the tabernacle, your beads in hand, beg God to be on your side. There can be no delinquency among Chaminade students if each one keeps in close contact with Christ Whose life is as a dynamo sending out energy for Christlike living. Attach your loyalty to Christ the Man. Hunger, fatigue, failure, insults, temptations from without, ingratitude or gratitude touched Him just as they affect any man. Imitate His courage, kindness and understanding in face of hardships and difficulties. In your endeavor to attach your loyalty to the Person of Jesus Christ, His Mother and ours is your Ideal and Model. To Jesus through Mary-through the Mother to the Son , is the motto of Chaminade High School. Loyalty to, and imitation of Mary go hand in hand with devotion to Her Son. Obstacles will come. Overcoming them is a daily problem for all of us during school, work, and recreation. God placed obstacles in our life so that we may earn our way to Heaven and prove that we are strong enough in will and mind to get there. With the counsels of Christ, your Leader and Mary your Mother firm in mind, with prayers for your country on your lips, with acts of virtue embedded in your soul, your career will make a page in the Book of Life worthy to be emblazoned in letters of gold. Your foot- steps will fall naturally into the pace that Christ has set. In a world of sin you will see Christ by your side. May you never abandon Him, your gentle Teacher and Master.
