MAIORETTES AND CHIEFETTES ADD SPIRIT AND SPARKLE TO BAND PICK THOSE FEET UP! To the left . . . march! Such commands are echoed throughout the gymnasium or Held as Chamberlain Chiefettes and Majorettes practice for half-time shows at the games during football season. The girls also join the school band in parades and other public functions including the United Fund Drive and the spring musical variety show, the Panorama of Music. . The girls sponsor the annual Christmas Dance, a formal affair at Chamberlain. Contributing to the purchase and installation of the refrigerated drinking fountain in the girls' physical education department was the top project of the Chiefettes and Majorettes this year. Outstanding physical condition and good citizenship in addi- tion to a pleasing appearance are necessary qualifications for ap- plication as a member of the Chiefette team. Besides these re- quirements, a Majorette must have formal training in baton twirling. Under the supervision of Miss Pat Hunt, try-outs begin in the Spring, and the final selection is made by Miss Hunt and Mr. Robert Price, band director, in time for the girls to get in plenty of practice before the nrst fall game.
