Sem lng Room The Domestlc Sc1enc glrls haxe done a great deal toward furnlshlng the dlnlng room They have glven candy sales at the local stores and at hlgh school entertamments and basketball games to procure funds The proceeds have been used to buy s1lver chlna table llnen etc The Domestlc Art depa1tment 1s complete 1n every deta1l It con S1StS of one large well llghted room and It also ls furnlshed for a class of twenty glrls The glrls learn to sew wlth all kmds of mater1al 'lhe first semester the essentlals of sewlng are taught such as the dlfferent stltches and sewlng machme and to use a pattern correctly Some slmple garments are also made generally wlth cotton materlals Durlng the second semes ter the glrls do more dlfflcult Work some even makmg coats for summer wear Several of the glrls haxe made thexr dresses for gladuatlon I addltxon the glrls are taught the average wldth prlce use and Wearlng quahty of dlfferent mjerxals The Centraha H1gh School 1S yustly proud of 1ts Domestlc SCIBHCG and Domestlc Art departments and appreclates the efflclent work of the teach ers of thls course D R 18 . . Manual Trauung The manual trammg equ1pment has been lmproved from t1me to txme untll at present we have as good an equ1pment as any hlgh school of thlS SIZE m the state The shop IS located 1n a bu1ld1ng by ltself so that the H0158 of the machlnery does not dlsturb the pup1ls wh1le studymg Th1s arrangement also glV6S more room to the department than could otherwlse be spared bpec1al attentlon lb g1ven to begmners Mr Grabow the head of the manual trammg department holdlng that 11 a boy first learns the proper use of all tools and mstruments he w1ll become more proficlent 1n hxs work later on Manual tra1n1ng lS requlred 1n the elghth grade thls year WhlCh al most doubles the number of beglnners and w1ll make lt posslble to teach more advanced work m the h1gh school next year All students are charged at cost for the lumber they use and are re qulred to make the1r own blue prmts ln the draftmg department They must make out the1r own lumber b1lls and have to declde for themselves as to the finlsh they use All of th1 of course lS supervlsed by the m structor but the ldea IS to make each pupll thmk for h1mself The work thls year has been satlsfactory ln every detall the ad vanced students turnmg out some p1eces that would do credlt to profes slonal workmen w1th much more experlence Many of the art1cles made by DUDIIS were for the1r own use therefore every boy d1d h1s best to make the work perfect Other artlcles were made for the d1str1ct equ1pment wh1le some were made to order and sold H P 7 O O 6 . ., . . .
