The Secretarial Staff An effective and well co-ordinated secretarial staff is essential in a huge organization such as ours if the operation is not to bog down, even before the opening of school, under an avalanche of confused detail. The secretarial staff spends months in pre- paring for that big day just as it does after the closing of each school year. Preparing for entrance as well as checking and completing student records are long and painstak- ing tasks, yet the handling of these details is only a small portion of the duties of our secretaries. The amount of daily detail confronting the staff is staggering. Yet under the calm supervision of Miss Betty Tobaben, secretary to Mr. Tower, each member of the staff carries on her assigned duties efficiently and with dispatch. Miss Ruth Woolley, financial secretary, sees approximately a third of a million dollars go through her records during the year. Miss Melva Kresser must move rapidly to keep ahead of the detail going across Mr. Peiranois desk just as Miss Jo-Ann Proflitt keeps busy to keep up with Mrs. Lapels details. Switchboard lights often resemble a Christmas tree for Mrs. Ella Staubitz while Miss Joan Stanley keeps the records of some three hundred co-oping seniors in addition to securing work certificates for each of them, Miss Mau- reen Thesken has been transferred from the switchboard to the Practical Nursing De- partment. Mrs. Evelyn Bierley has assumed the duties of Mrs. Sue Wohlwender as secretary for the counselors. Other recent additions include Mrs. lrma Merkle for Mr. Roman, and Mrs. Gladys Dunaway for attendance and class cuts.
