Science Dept. Outlaws Lab. Manual Cookbooks Every science course at Central has a labora- tory arrangement. A constant search for a new, meaningful experimentation is a goal shared by our science instructors. Now, more than ever, students are being forced to think for themselves rather than relying entirely on the old-fashioned cook book laboratory methods. ln the lab, stu- dents rediscover important principles and learn to take nature's problems and develop answers for them. Half of the entire student body is enrolled in sci- ences of different levels. Of these, approximately one hundred fifty students will take four or more courses in biological or physical science. At the other extreme, introductory physical science and sophomore biology are designed to provide a basic understanding and knowledge of science useful to vocational or humanities students. Original and simple conversations are particularly stressed in these courses. Latin classes are not available this year be- cause universities have become concerned with modern languages. ln place of Latin, German has been added to the curriculum. Next year, classes will rotate in and out of the language labs so the equipment can be util- ized continuously. Bruce Hendry and Mike Rachal listen to a Spanish conversation Charleen Mina Dept.
