KIN G AND QUEEN On February twenty second and February twenty third Norm Surah and Holly Manning were crowned king and queen of the High- lights of 56 , Holly is an all A student, has been a cheerleader for two years, member of Freshman League, and has been in the ninth grade band for two years. Norm is on Central's senior basketball and soccer teams. The runnerups for queen were Frances Ste- iner, Kathleen Lewis, Judy Randall, Barbara Henderson, and Thelma Jones. The runnerups for king were Jerry Thon, Eugene Hand, Jim Hooper, Bill Cymbol, R.A. Stevens. BOYS GLEE CLUB In all the lumber camps most of the lum- berman used to like to sing. We find this also true here at Central, and none likes to sing more than our boys glee club. They have en- tertained us throughout the yes r. Mr. LeBar, the director, says eighth and ninth graders can join. The members this year are: Robert McCormick Jim Wamback Dennis Farmer John Martinez Robert Patton Tom Miller James Collier Oillie Barry Larry Kast Gatis Lusis Lawrence Easter John McAfee Jack Diaz Mike Klaczkiewicz Ed Martinez Ralph Garrett George Villaeed Gilbert Guevara Mike Scarbough SILVE R WARE COMMITTEE Each year the foods department saves cou- pons from any General Mill's product for which they get silverware. Each food's room has about twelve place settings and some extra pieces at the present time. Each class has achairman and Miss Casey gives valuable prizes to the girls who gather the most coupons. The chairmen for the first semester in Miss Casey's room were:Terry Sue Pickens, Phyllis Roblins, Katherine McNickle, Katherine Sanders, Betty Tomp- son, Ruth Arm Schultz, Clarice Kuk, Patricia Liggins, and Dorothy Dallas. Second semester: Connie Wing, Olivia Vel- asque, Karen Kelsey, Joan Laeding, Phant- rince Wilson, Carol Blasch, Virginia McCray, and Margaret Podvin. First semester chairman in Miss Degges room were:Victoria Mares, Lynn Brown, Carol Hoebel, Colleen Merrill and Geraldine Binder Second semester are Susan Smith, Margaret Hammontre, Marie Hetzner Lavina Manches- ter and Rubie Jones. A real friend is a friend who undertsands us and still is. We are fast approaching summer ..... the sea- son when children will slam the doors they left open all winter. Marriage gives single men a new lease on life at double the rent.

Christina Zamudio 9 10 11 HIGH LIGHTS Crowds gathered in Central's auditorium on February 23 and 24, to see this year-'s annual Highlights, with Bill Ahrens and Jack Keane acting as Masters of Ceremonies. Our guest artists were the Onchords, one of the outstanding quartets in the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Bar- ber Shop Quartet Singing in America. They are second place winners in the Michigan district. The traditional ninth grade chorus line did a wonderful job, dancing to the tune of But- tons and Bows. Some of the other acts wereg a dance by Sandra Brown, He sung by Louise McDaniel Guitars in Harmony with Donna Mae and her uncles, an eighth chorus line dancing to the tune Tea for Two, Military Boogie, and Spanish Dance by Amanda Aylala, the Silhou- ette Dance with Beverly Brinkman, Julia Evans, and Bette McClellan, a can-can num- ber, the Harmony Teenettes, the Ambassadors of Songs, and a double tap number done by Julie Vaughin and Ann Hoffman. Our pianist was Art Galonska. There were many people not seen in the Highlites who did much work, Miss Schultz, Miss Lundbom, Julie Vaughn,J anice Granville and Mrs.Claudine Wickes were in charge of the dance routines. Mr. Foulds was the art advisorg Tom Gerow and Frank Czologosz were the art crewg stage crew members were Bob Armstrong, Brian Mclnerney, Bob McCormick, John Livingston, Gatis Lusis, and Clifford Defore. Mr. Dunne and the boys of the printing department printed the prog- rams and tickets. Miss Williams,Mr. Gallo- way, Mr. Shairer, and Mr. Kleekamp were in charge of publicity. Mary Ann McGregor During the school year of 1955 and 1956, Central Jr. High had four exceptionally fine professional assemblies in our auditorium: The first one was presented by the Carl Jos- ephs. This was a man and wife team showing their skill in archery. Mr. J oseph's trick shots were almost unbelievable. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Joseph showed the students of Central breath- stopping stunts with the bow and arrow. Our second assembly by Larry Tobler was sensational. Mr. Tobler played the banjo and demonstrated to us,why he is called King of the Banjo, The third assembly of the year was Down to the Sea in Shipsf'Captain Dry presented the students of Central with many displays of sea equipment and also many stories of the sea. The last but not least assembly of this year was given by David S. Williams. This assem- bly was on The Wonders ofLiquid Air. When Mr. and Mrs. Williams demonstrated their strictly modern version of liquid air, many a student was delighted, and bewildered. This assembly wound up another year of four Ilgrogessional assemblies at Central. The cost these four assemblies was only S362.50,according to Mr. Burtt. You don't have to worry about your stationin life there's always somebody who'1l tell you where to get off. Remember, these trying times will be the good old days in just a few years. Ambition is nothing more than a tickling around the Wishbone.

S. broadcasting from the beautiful Log Mark room in the new Hotel Saginaw, overlooking the beautiful Saginaw River. This is Robert Armstrong and Lanny Sharon broadcasting the twenty- fiveyears after reunion ofthe 1956 class of good old' Central Junior. We want to thank the genial Douglas Anderson, who is the hotel Manager, for assisting us in getting ready for this grand occasion. Entering the lobby are Lyle Wolfgang, Warren Stavely, Jim Baumgartner, Ronnie Zanner and James Raasch, millionairs Cwbo took time off from making millions to visit their old classmatesj Who are those three blonds in those mink coats and jewels? Why that's Frances Steiner, Mary Boyer and Judy Schnetzler. I see several old friends registering at the desk, they are Dr. Jim Hooper and his wife the former Beverly Brinkman. Also at the desk are some nurses, they are Joyce Guest, Sally Barnes and Barbara Hoffman. These girls studied at the same hospital and grad- uated with the highest honors. Oh, another doctor is coming our way, it is Dr. Bob Bohn. Dr. Bohn is one of the greatest eye doctors in the U.S. fBob was always sort of interested in the eyes of people.J Man!! Dig that suit. I always did think that U. S. Air Force pilot uniforms were cool but these, man, the're out of this world! The pilots are George Brown, Joe Pelon and Earl Crane. Have any of you seen the new Marlyn Monroevand the new Clark Gable ? Well now is your chance for here comes Miss Vicky Mathews and Frank Szabo. They have just finished a picture named It's Almost Tomorrow . If you are interested in learning the latest dance steps just step up and ask either Karla Hildebrandt or Janet Liss for the new steps, as they are now two ot the most famous dance-teachers for Arther Murray Studios. In fact they flew in on Jet Specialty from New York. For all those interested in going back to school again, you can meet some of the new facualty members at Central. They are Martha Kemper who teaches English, Jerry Then, boys gym teacher,LarryKast,boy sgym teach- er and Shirley Lazzaro girls gym teacher. If anyone listening is interested in having their home or stores redecorated just call on the famous interior decora tor,Margaret Klisch. Margaret went to college after high school for four years and between then and now has climbed the ladder of success almost to the sky.She is at Hudson's, Detroit. Now for a royal visit. Here is the 1955-56 Queen and'King themselves, Holly Manning and Norm Schrah. These two took over their reign in 1956 and I do say so myself, they have done a wonderful job in television and the movies. For a real treat here comes the famous Al- most All Girl Band . The members are well known Sue Cherry, Carol Gardener, Yvonne Ely, Bette McClellan, Jackie Chamberlain, and the one who makes it Almost , Bill Cymball, popular male singer. Here comes that wellknown French hair styl- ist Miss Judy Randall. Judy came all the way from Paris, France for this reuniong Most of you know the famous person who writes the Save Yourself' column for all the leading newspapers of the world. She is here in person, Miss Sandy Stanton. Sandy got her start when she took journalism back in Central. She has come a long way. The new team, Barbara Hendersen, Thelma Jones, Earnestine Bothel, Marilyn Strothers and Viola Washington are doing very well at the BlueTango run by the famous Larry New- some. Those famous basketball players, R.A. Stevens and Jim Thomas, plan to entertain us tonight with a few basketball stories. Also on the entertainment list for to- night are the Three B's Sisters. They are Joyce Bates, Leala Brown, and Annie Barnes. These girls are really on the top. Their latest record was Shoo Ruthie. Coming out of the elelvator poodle first is Mary Johnson, the spectacular ballet danc- er of the year. OH! right behind her is the wellknown actor Pat Brown. Pat went to the same College of Dramatics that Frank Szabo did. At the candy counter I spy somone you sports fans all know. He is the light-weight champ of the world, Robert King. There's Calvin Cross the editor of the famous newspaper First Things Come First, and his assistant editor, Pearl Isom. The Junior senator of Michigan is also at our Reunion. She is the first female senator in the State of Michigan, Linda Patton. Sorry folks, time is just about up so we must bid you all good bye. This is station C. J.H.S. signing off.
