R. .T.. In addition to the goal which the name R. O. T. C. indicates, that of assisting cadets up the first steps leading to a reserve commission, the unit might be called a citizen factory. It builds and improves qualities, including: leadership, poise, tact, and integrity. It aims to instill habits of cleanliness, neat- ness, obedience, and courtesy. Its training in weapons leads to dexterity, marksmanship, and safety consciousness, which will undoubtedly reduce hunting accidents in the future. Its first aid training can and probably will save the lives of accident victims. The most immediate evidence of the value of the program is vouched for by returning graduates on their first leave from the armed forces, who, almost without exception, report that R. O. T. C. has eased their way through the difficult weeks of basic training, or boot camp. The raw material is an untrained adolescent, the end product is a man. The R. O. T. C. Sponsors are a group of girls chosen on merits of posture, grooming, citizenship, and marching ability. They make numerous public appearances at which they exhibit their well- planned maneuvers. R. O. T. C. Sponsors First row, Left to right: Erma Jean Mesojedec Second row: Oma Jean Sutton, Doriss Decker. Third row: Barbara llerbrand, Patsy Martin, Pat Kochevar. Fourth row: Genevieve Snell, Martha Madrill, Joanne Mishmash, Geraldine Anderson. Fifth row: Marlowe Ann Roche, Sandra Kellogg Sally Swearingen, Raeanna Davis, Charlotte Timme. Sixth row: Marilyn O'Connor, Janice Keller.
