University of New Mexico Central's evolution has not by any means by-passed her faculty. Through new concepts and new methods has come a better educational program. Teachers do not now teach classes according to the theory that students must be forced to learn by fear of punishment, they have come to believe that students will learn and will enjoy doing it, if the sub- ject matter is presented in an interesting way and applied to the problems of everyday life. They can better under- stand the students because, on the average, they are younger themselves and all have been trained to cope with student problems. Through the combined efforts of the faculty and the administration, courses which have decreased in value dur- ing the years have been abolished and more useful subjects added to the curriculum. Today's world demands character and personality as well as knowledge and skillg Central has satisfied this need by offering courses such as social living, psychology, and sociology.
