Caution Lights M ISS STEEL Miss Steel, well known assistant girls physical educa- tion instructor, mathematics and general science teacher of last year, is new as a guiding light in her position as Dean of Girls. She listens patiently and understand- ingly to the girls' problems, seeking to find solutions helpful to both the grades and the morale of the stu- dents. Because of Miss Steel's friendly, genial nature, the girls feel free to consult her at any time. Always they find her a helpful and capable counselor. Perhaps Centralites feel close to Miss Steel because she was a graduate of Central in 1945. Here amid jangling tele- phones. scurrying office helpers, and pleading requests for passes, Mrs. Mary Reid and Miss Iois Goodman keep the school running efficiently. From the office come the many-colored permits passes and slips so familiar to all students. Here are kept de- tailed files on Centralites, past and present. Not only the routine tasks of the day but various problems that arise unexpectedly must be handled capably and quickly. Surely this vital school department can be called a co-ordinating light. , 5 . . h . rs.
