ohool Daze of 1953-54 Dinner of the Century of Commerce Club of the Chamber of Commerce at Hotel Statler. Stratford Lee Mortan, a Central' Alumnus, is Chairman of the Century of Commerce Club and Joseph F. Holland, who was presiding toastmaster, is also a Central graduate. Mr. Alexander accepted the award which was given to the school for its hundred years of education- al service. 'AEducation-Labor-Business'' Day was cele- brated at Central' on Tuesday, November I7. with an auditorium session and a luncheon in honor of our guests, who included about twenty prominent leaders in business and labor organ- izations, They made many favorable comments about the school. On December 4, the Lettermen's Club held its annual dance and selected an All-Sports Queen. The lucky girl was Jean Sabo. The other candidates were Joan Allen, Barbara Bell. Mary Jane DePauli, Pat Forsythe, Carol Hearst On the New York Trip Goodman, Bonnie Jones, Mary Marschlewski, Celeste Morales, Kathy Sandcork and Virginia Svoboda. In December the Choir and the Caroling group were kept very busy singing at hotels, parties and also in the Globe-Democrat Christ- mas Pageant at Kiel Auditorium. The chief events in January were the Senior Prom at Hotel De Soto on January 22nd and the Graduation Exercises held here at Central on January 27th. Speeches were made by Jim Williams and Ann Wright, Ron Schnur made the welcoming address and Bill Clarke was the Narrator for the illustrated story of the term. On February l a new term started and Mr. Robert Jaeger joined the Central' faculty. I43 Freshies entered Central for the first time, mak- ing the enrollment 1043. The Seniors chose their new officers: Gary Couch, president: Irene Mirth, vice-presidentg Joan Allen, secretary: Larry Couch, treasurer. The New Seniors elected Les Bushman, president: Sharon Bresely, vice- president: Barb Folwarczny. secretary, and Bill Root, treasurer. The student body elected the following Student Council officers: President. Max Tarpleyg Vice-President, Jackie Meyers: Secretary, Gloria Kruse: Treasurer, Pat Schu- macher, and Sgt.-at-Arms, Kennard Vernon. On February llth Central observed its lOlst birthday. The school News also came out on February l lth, with a special edition. On March lst about 'SO Central students at- tended the Race Conference at Soldan-Blewett. and also in March, members selected from the social studies classes attended a mock trial at the
