THE SIGNAL of the sky and the sea and of all the eternal thmgs that are as true md as hlgh as the Heax ens and as deep and unrestlng as the ocean Blendmg w1th the blue that means so much the rlch gold of pure value and true honest sterlmg worth the color of the sunshlne and the symbol of all glory what colors of more slgnlflcance could we hope to attach to our banner as we march forth 1nto the crowded throughfares ol lxfe There are many reasons why we chose the rose to be our class flower Flrst perhaps because of 1ts beauty and rlchness that appeal to our artlstlc sense but second because of the unlversal symbol of love VR today are very much 1n loxe wlth l1fe and wlth all 1ts lovely glfts We are ln love Wlth the past and all that lt has meant to us we are IH love Wlth the present and the honors It IS today holdlng out to us and we are perhaps more than all ln love wlth the future because of 1ts promlse lts dellghtful uncertalnty and the wonderful mvstery of 1ts unvelled glfts We reahze that at thls our graduatlon we are only at the begmnmg of our hves We put before us these four words to urge us on and cn courage us What better goal could We hope to reach than On to the Top Mary Pogue 600 Class ll-lllstorv F YOU w1ll glve me your k1nd attentlon for a few moments I wlll relate to you the story of a marvelous class the most wonderful class that ever happened at old Cental Hlgh namely the class of 1938 We come from haunts of QUIZ and test We drop our sad demeanors And sparkle out above the rest Of pupil hood The Seniors' By twelve grades we scrambled here And thrlce as many teachers Through nlnety books a salty tear And half a hundred bleachers Our flrst elght grades were spent ln trymg to fool our teachers IH reahty foollng ourselx es Then we arrlved at Hlgh School very elated But the noble Superlntendent And the teachers of the classes Looked upon us wlth compasslon For they knew we were but chlldren And they spake such words of wlsdom That our frlght was stralghtway melted And we Jolned ourselw es together And llke brothers l1Y6d henceforward K Page Twenty s1xJ , ' , 1 1 - T , n K ' I I Y ' - . r, - r r .
