ADMINISTRA TIVE STA FF CENTRAL PRINCIPAL Mr. Otis D. Kirkland has been principal of Central High School since 1970. His concept for alleviating many of our social and economic problems is total education. Somehow, education has been allowed to take a back seat in the vital race for economic, social and mental development. He believes that, while education is not a cure-all, it creates a means of eliminating poverty, unemploy- ment, and crime. It enhances community relations, brotherly love, sound gov- ernment, and a greater interest in human welfare. Pride in our school raises morale of teachers and students. Pride leads to as much assisting as there is desire for assistance, as much a desire to listen as there is a desire to 'sound offg' aslmuch problem solving as confusion creating. ln general, there would be no communication gap. Gaps of any kind only occur where there is a weakness in the existing system. We of Central High are of one mind, one body, and one goal. Only by pull- ing together as a team, each mindful of the other in a concerned spirit, can a total education program be realized. Only by unity of the members of this body will the community be drawn in as an ally of education. Only then will the edu- cation system successfully fulfill its mission.
