Emory Carlisle got together a bunch of our former classmates and arganized a dance band. It has been voted the best dance band in America. EVTTOVVIS feature players GVSI HOVVY Hunt, trombone. Karl Smith, trumpet, and Jack Veasey, ace drummer. The vocalist for the band is Joyce Brooks. Joyce has sung in several pictures, This famous band is the main attraction at the night club of Mary Richards. Calvin Siddall has certainly taken advantage of his ability to make people laugh. He has 'his own radio show and is said to be the greatest comedian since Jimmy Durante. The sponsor for Colvin's show is Jack Sanders, who is advertising his breweries. The show's slogan is Scinclors' Sucls Sink Sorrows . Bob Waddail, world's heavyweight champ, is training for his coming fiaht with the chief contender for the crown, Harold The Killer Jimmerson, Harold's manager, glibetongued Charles Howell, says The Killer has a fiahting edge and is confident he will be next champ. Joe Benefield, manager of the champ, denies the charge by the press that Bob will retire rather than face Killer Jimmerson in the ring. The fight will be broadcast from coast to coast by George Barbee, outstanding sports commentator of the day. G Barbara Tucker and Jeanette Clark are co-owners of a very up-to-date interior decoration com- pany which is famous ,for its amazing transformations of interiors. Milford isn't the only one of our class to gain success in music. Sara Lee Hoy and Betty Kearney, brilliant stars of the Metropolitan Opera, have thrilled the crowned heads of Europe with their singing. In still another field of music Barbara Buce has her own all-girl orchestra, the most talented members beina Barbara Carroll, Carole Evans, and Edna Earl Gray. Dan Hodge is the chief nominee of a new political party. Dan will probably succeed Roosevelt. This has been said for the past six terms, but I feel sure that upon completion of his sixth term, Roosevelt will decline the next nomination. Dorothy Hicks is the secretary of the new party. From the pen of Artie Blalock has iust come another best seller. The title of her new book is The Sun ls Up . As all of her other books, this one will be published by the firm owned by Edward Coffield and Bryan Forlines. Betty Gunter, now a General in the W.A.V.E.S, has sent a detail back to Phenix City to coen a new enlistment office, The detail is Lieutenants Eula Hudson, Joyce Smith, and Nancy Caldwell. Frank Grimes, manager of Wells Dairy, is putting on a campaign to increase sales of ice cream. The slogan for his campaign is, A cone in every home . The bookkeeper for this organization is Daphine Flinn. The most up-to-date beauty parlor in Phenix City is owned by Faye and Madelyn Slocumb. Their staff of operators, each one an expert, includes Mildred East and Laura Walker. The motto of the parlor is, Nothing is impossible . Seated under the hair dryer is Dora Faye Mullin, earnestly hoping that the motto is true. Dora Faye is the wife of the famed comedian, Calvin Siddall. One of the parlor's best customers, Vera Johnson, has left for South America where she will accept a job as secretary to Remanyi Parker, who owns a large contracting company, Remanyi's most skilled engineers are Gerald Davis and Floyd Ray. Jeanne McKinnon holds the icb of State Home Demonstration Agent. Jeanne demonstrates every- thing from bottle openers to cocktail shakers. She spends much time at the nursery owned by Betty VVhite and Betty Hilyer. A new magazine in competition with The Woman's Day has been started by Frances Jernigan. lt is called The Woman's Week . Frances said that one clav was not enough for a woman so she took a whole week. Betty Osborne assists her with the publication. K Carl Copeland is expected to get a bowl bid for his team this year. Carl has been the football coach at the University of Alabama for the past two years. Madison Parker, sports writer for a large paper, says that the bid will probably be for the Rose Bowl. Oh, yesl l hear that Frances Modling has an expression school in the thriving metropolis of Bleeker, Alabama. At the head of her roster of expert instructors are Rebecca Harrell and Mildred McWhorter. The school has been very successful and has trained some of our most well known orators. Marion Love has published a book entitled How to Skate in 742 Easy Lessons . Copies of her book were purchased by Helen Jackson and Libba Ratliff, owners of a large chain of drug stores. Classes were conducted in the new rink opened by Pitts Parker. After a few lessons, Helen and Libba decided to stick to the drug store. Well, that takes in the whole class.
