Q..-1 Bob Piggott f-wana., Bob Palmer Sam Lorch Allen Flynn 1491 lays up two against Stratford. I Tiger Basketball C continued from p. 176 Q a victory. The Tigers, led by Sam Lorch with 10 points and Steve jordan with 8 points, pulled off a 40-31 victory over the Smyrna Bulldogs. As the season progressed, the Tigers Won their next three ball games. They were led by Senior members, Bob Palmer, Sam Lorch, and Bob Piggott. Murfreesbords next opponent was powerful Leb- anon. The Blue Devils pulled off a 56-45 win to hand the Tigers their first defeat of the season. The Tigers were led by Senior forward, Sam Lorch, and Iunior forward, Steve Iordan. Murfreesborois next 6 opponents all Went down in defeat, with one exception, Stratford. Stratford had to play a great game in order to barely edge the powerful Tigers. The Tigers were led by Bart Fite and Sam Lorch. tPowerful McMinnville City was the next team to invade the Tiger Den. Bart Fite led the Tigers, in their 54 to 52 win, with 18 points. Most of these came on easy layups in which Steve Lannom assisted. Lan- nom ended up pulling down 17 rebounds. Woodbury was the first opponent in the District 13 tournaments for the Tigers. This game was not much of a contest for the Tigers but they excelled anyway. All of the starting five on the Tigers ended up in double figures in scoring. Many reserves got to play in this game due to outstanding efforts by Steve Lannom and Steve jordan. Murfreesboro's next opponent in the tournaments was Kittrel. The Tigers lost this game 57-56, which went into 3 overtimes. Therefore, the Tigers failed to reach the Regional Tournaments. Outstanding players in this game were Bart Fite, Bob Palmer, Sam Lorch, Steve Iordan, and Steve Lannom. 78
