Some say it was hard work, some, loads of fun. Well, we say it was bot.h of these. As
we get the last details together just before going to press, we oifer our thanks to you,
the student body, for the privilege of recording one of your green years of high school.
A special appreciation goes to Mr. Ralph Vance, our faculty adviser, who was
always willing to give any word of advice needed. Many thanks go, also, to Mr. Whitley
and the faculty members, who so patiently tolerated our many interruptions and the
many inconveniences that we caused them.
Many words of gratitude go to the members of our staii for their unselfish service:
to Landry Neely, associate editor, who was always there to fulfill any duty or to
encourage us during those long hours, to Mike Jones, Ann Johnson, Max Loflin,
whose cleverly-prepared art work has added much to our book, to Jane Sowers and
Carol Smith, who were ever willing to do more than just write copy, to Anne Salley,
senior statistician, who spent many hours collecting and typing material about each
senior, to Arlene Taylor, outline editor, who never ceased to write identifications for
each pictureg to Ralph Hall, sports editor, for each of his skillfully written accounts of
our sports events, to Mollie Little, our staff typist, who not only typed all the material
for the book but assisted us in many of our other tasks and problems.
Much credit is due to our chief photographer, Pete I ones, who spent many hours
in producing new ideas for our photography, and to his darkroom stall, Stuart Hart
and George Honeycutt, who assisted with the darkroom chores.
A special word of thanks goes to the members of the business staii-Tommy
Woollen, "Pepper" Tice, Nancy Jo Doggett, Frances Gilmore, Jimmy Blair, Ettalee
Monroe, Peggy Tobias, Herman Bunch, and Claude Earle-who spent many long hours
down town selling ads to the local merchants. This annual was made possible through
the co-operation and tireless efforts of the members of the business staff.
We ask you, dear reader, to treasure this book as a token of the many good times
shared in High Point Hi.
