'l'he Panthers thought that they would have an easy game of football but the
Yellow Jackets were not so easily beaten as the Panthers thought they would bc. The
Stripling High warriors played an offensive game of football and Central had to rely
on her defense in order to stop the fighting Yellow Jackets.
The first touchdown was made by Bass. Jordan converting the extra point. The
next touchdown was made by Creed, with Jordan again converting. The third marker
was made in the second quarter. Nobert, who had already played a fine game, picked
up a Jacket fumble and sped thirty yards for a touchdown. Soon after the second
half opened, Coach Winkleman gave almost every substitute on his squad a chance to
show his ability against the Jackets.

Coach Bennie Winkleman's magicians were not forced to show their mystifying
plays to any great extent for this victory in their last intercity game with their
Dallas rivals.
Jordan sped around right end for twenty yards and scored. He ran his total of
points up to 1023.
Lee Bassinger broke through and blocked N. Dallas punt. The ball bounced out
of the end zone, giving the Panthers two points. Central got the ball on N. lDallas's
twenty-three yard line to start the drive for the third touchdown. A pass, Bass to
Clynch, gained the needed distance. Jordan converted the extra point.

This was one of the greatest battles fought on the local district high school field
this season. Both teams battled to a draw in the first quarter. The second quarter
opened with both teams hungry for a touchdown. The Bisons got the first touchdown
on a break, one of the Panther backs fumbled. Before the second quarter was up the
llisons had pushed over another. The Panthers made their only touchdown in the last
quarter with two minutes to play. Twenty-five yards from the goal, Stevenson, stellar
passer, of the Panthers, stepped back and passed laterally to Clynch, who relayed to
Brickell. Brickell sprinted the remaining distance for the touchdown. In spite of
the breaks for Sunset, the Panthers outplayed their Dallas opponents. Captain Ankele
and Burton were the defense stars.
