3 .mp PANTHER.
Los Leones was reorganized for the Fall term in September. It is an
honor society composed of students who have been exempt in Spanish. The
club was divided into sides, "Los Am.arillos" and "Los Rojosf' The sides
held a contest, at the close of which the ones having most points entertained
those having the fewest points. A banquet was held on February 28 at a
Mexican restaurant where real Mexican food was served. Prizes were given
Miss Genevieve Green and Kenneth Lockhart, who were elected as the two
members who had been of greatest benefit to the club during the year.
A great part of the success of this club is due to the co-operation of the
sponsors, Miss Margaret Webster, Miss Louise Bomar, Mrs. Margaret Caskey,
and the new sponsor who came from Junior High, Miss Lucille Rawlings.
During the Spring term the club increased its membership to forty. These
new members have taken an active interest in the programs, helping to make
them both interesting and instructive. Plays, contests and games have been
held at the meetings of the Club.
At the end of this term, the Club will entertain its members with the
annual banquet. Other diversions have been planned for the members: picnics
and parties will be given.
"Los Leones" hopes that future members will have as enjoyable and inter-
esting a year as has been experienced by the present members.

ACTIVITIES OF "LES HIBOUXH
During 1927 the activities of "Les I-IibouX," the French Club of Central
High School, were outstanding. Mr. Paschal was presented with a statue
of .Ioan of Arc. An elaborate silver tea was given at which money was made
to take care of certain of the obligations to be met by the club.
At Christmas there was some talk of having a social function for the club:
however, it seemed that the spirit of the club leaned toward charity work.
Large contributions of food, clothing, and money were collected for this work.
Many of the members of the French department who did not belong to the
club joined in on this good work, Every member of the club seemed to feel
benefited by this bit of unselfishness.
"Les HibouX" took part on one of the programs for the Parent-Teacher
Association, and later at one of the regular meetings a delightful program and
light luncheon were given for the entertainment of the Polytechnic French Club.
A well carried-out Weiner roast and also a theatre party made up part
of the social activities of the club.
Another prominent function of the year was a successful luncheon given
for the entertainment of the club by the acting president, Miss Helen McFrancis.
