Among some of his most treasured are those of Mrs. Gardener, former dean of Central High School and "Ma" Ferguson, ex-governor of Texas. The medal was presented to him in behalf of Baron Friedhof by his secre- tary, Clovis Harkrieder. The award was created by the Bar- on after he had made his for- tune by inventing synthetic limburger cheese. Among those who have received the award are Trula Clendenen, perfector of self-oiling, noiseless false teeth for women, enabling them to talk longer and speedier. EXPLORER PLANS EXPEDITION Mr. Clarence Haden, the discoverer of the serum for snow-blind polar bears, reports he is planning a prolonged ex- ploration of the great ice fields that surround the North Pole. He will be assisted by James McDowell, who discovered the starting place of the Aurora Borealis. ..-0...- EIRE DESTROYS EAMGUS EDIEICE The Carolyn Ann Beavers Insurance Building, known all over the world as the abode of Grace Bovell, famous sculptress and artist, burned last night with a property damage esti- mated by Thomas Lewis to be well over S5,000. A figure that looked suspiciously like Lee Morris was seen hurrying from the neighborhood shortly before the fire. Miss Virginia Elbert, can- didate for re-election as pound keeper on the Freer Wom- an's Federation Ticket, led a huge torchlight procession to Harmon Hodge's Plaza Park, where she spoke to a large as- semblage. The speaker of the evening was introduced by Max Ellis, who praised her political rec- ord very highly. Miss Elbert cited her past record as an example of what she has done. She pointed out that she had pardoned over l,500,dogs during her admin- istration. Her speech was well received. Another speaker, Mr. Frank Abbott, brought tears to the eyes of his listeners as he told of how many a homeless and wayward canine had been par- doned and returned to his mas- ter. One hearer, Mr. Harold Hoffmeister, prominent sports- man, was so touched that he donated 10 billion German marks. if "fi ff -A V , L Qzff xgf'....a- K ..,,a--,pa ' - ff1-- - - -Ziff? - f ,
