BEHIND THE WHEEL = Chuck Isenburg and Chris Strain stroll through the parking lot. One can't help but notice Paul Knight's car, as he found a way to personalize his Beetle. Students take responsibilities of driving o drive or not to T sive: that is the question most teen- agers ask their parents when school begins. Driv- ing and having an automo- bile is a ‘“‘must’’ for most students at Central. This year the most popular auto- mobiles are Mustangs, Jeeps, trucks, and many dif- ferent small cars. Derick Maddox's car is quite odd. He owns a little red Subaru. Looking at the outside of his car it’s just another car, but it’s quite different when you look inside. The whole interior consists of rubber skulls and fake cobwebs. He says, ‘There’s no other car at Central that’s as unique as mine!” For the first six weeks of school, our parking lots are completely full. Once those progress reports go out, it seems as if the parking lots thin out. The ones who lose their car for six weeks are given a choice; they may ei- ther ride the bus, walk to school, or catch a ride with a friend. Most of them would rather ride with a friend! One thing is for sure; stu- dents at Central have good taste in cars, ranging from ‘75 Mavericks to ‘86 Honda Preludes. Needless to say, even our cars have ap ‘peel”’.
